Here's my little Boker.

Some great looking knives in here. I have been enjoying my soddie most of the month so far. It will see regular rotation after this month and be my full time gardening knife. The handle wears fast and it looks like it has been in my pocket for a year. I will get some pics up soon(on vacation). Very happy with it, the O1 sharpens up nicely. I would say its a great bargain for what you get in my eyes.

What's the size on this one, and do you have any more information? I cleaned up a knife that looks a lot like this for a good friend's father, who got it from his father. The only visible markings I could find were SOLINGEN and, if I remember correctly, GERMANY beneath that. It was an absolutely massive folder, with a blade over four inches long.

I have one small Boker Arbolito soddie with yellow composite handles. I'll post a photo tomorrow. The fit and finish on that one isn't great, nor was the grind, and it's sort of ugly... But it works and the carbon steel takes a wicked edge.

Pretty sure its a F. Herder, I bought it at auction and was told it was old (who really knows) Obviously it had a bale and probably an etch at some point before I got it. Still gets real sharp and the wood shined up real nice.

Drago, congrats on a nice case Cv sodbuster, that was my first soddie and it was down hill from there:D

TPVT, welcome to the club:thumbup:

Hawaiian, thats a nice looking tree brand. I have the Boker Cinch, I believe they are the same just they have different etchings on the blades but if anyone knows if there is a difference let me know.

A little behind on posting again but I have been able to carry a different soddie everyday. A few days ago I carried this Otter Messer made in Germany with Carbon blade and fat little handes:D

The next day I carried my new production Fred.Herder abr sohn. Made in Germany with carbon blade. I knew that they replaced the stamped blade with etching before I bought the knife but was still sort of disappointed when it arrived, the stamp on the old Herders was just plain cool... Still a very nice knife but seems to lack that character of the oldies.

Two days ago I carried my Antonini "Maniaghese" sodbuster. Italy made with stainless blade and brass liners, a nice little knife. I'm quite certain that where ever this is made the Italy made Kissing Cranes are made in the same factory, they are identical in almost every feature.

Yesterday I carried the Case Sodbuster Jr in Carbon fiber. Not very traditional and a bit on the pricey side for what you get but I must say that it comes hair poppin sharp, sharper than any other soddie I've bought, and it extremely light and thin. This is a perfect knife for dress pants, it just disappears. Great walk and talk as well! They should ditch the shield though:rolleyes:

I didnt get to carry a soddie today, I went golfing and was wearing shallow pocket shorts. I knew whatever I put in my pockets would get lost at some point from the golf cart ride so I carried a knife with a pocket clip. I did however get a new fixed blade from custom maker John Kiedaisch over at JK knives in the custom section. I sent him my GEC Bullnose so her could pattern the handle onto one of his knives called the Toby's knife. I also had him put brass liners, pin and lanyard hole on there to give it a traditional look. John did great and it turned out fantastic! Here is a pick of it with the GEC.

Thanks, Ryanol. I wondered why the lanyard hole was so small... Obviously, it's a bale-hole! :D

trevytrev: you have some nice sodbusters, wow

TPVT, nice to see ya, here's the one I told you about that Alan "pimped"

I've been using my Case CV Sodbuster Jr for a couple weeks now, and I'm feeling very ambivalent about it. I use it as a utility knife at work, mainly box cutting. It works great for slicing through cardboard, but I really dislike the belly and almost complete lack of tip. For the stuff I use it for, it's actually the opposite of blade I prefer, which would be a straighter blade like a wharncliffe or sheepsfoot. It slices great if I keep the material at the base, but I prefer to cut towards the tip for more control. It holds an edge better than I expected too. And with the thin blade, it keeps slicing even when it dulls a bit. But the blade wobble returns quickly, no matter how hard or often I whack it with a rubber mallet, and the spring pin still is off-kilter.

If there was a sheepsfoot sodbuster style knife, cheap, with delrin handles, I'd buy one in a heartbeat. Anyone know of anything like that? I've looked at the pruner, but it looks way too big and heavy (having bolsters and end caps) for what I'd want it for.

In the meantime, I've ordered a 31048 barehead slimline trapper in yellow delrin. It's longer than I'd probably prefer, but for less than $30, I'll give it a whirl.

I still like my Bull Nose Red Neck, but it's still too humid for me to want to use it just yet.

I've used my slimline trapper for eveything and box cutting for over 38 years and for it's size and length and slim blade I know I'd prefer it over a sod buster any day. That said, I will be trying my new AGR Cowboy in a week or so ad I'm sure that the slimline will win out. Give the slimline a chance you just might prefer it.

trev that fixed blade is just amazing. That would be a great edc sheath knife. I really love the handle and liners looking like a folder. That blade shape is much more usefull in my opinion. Very nice sir

Thanks Kyenglish, I do love my soddies:D

Thanks Rockgolfer, I give all the credit to John, I just threw a few ideas at him and he produced a great little knife.

I carried my Hen& Rooster Polished Stag in "German" :D stainless. This is made in Spain and is a very quality knife. I have a feeling that this is made by the same folks who make the Celaya knives. Both are made in Spain, have the same blade profile and are the same size as each other.

Today I carried with one of my favorite soddies. Its the wooden handle version to the horn handle knife I posted earlier in the month. Its a Parapluie A L'epreuve in 12C27 steel. I prefer this on over the horn due to its ease of opening and nice wooden handle. This knife and the Bullnose Work knife battle each other for my favorite sodbusters. This has a better blade profile, the best imo of all my soddies. Made in Theirs France, this knife is a real winner:thumbup:

Thanks!

So this is what it feels like to be one of the enablers....

Hehe, feels good, huh? Now I am on the great quest to find a place that has them in stock,,,you monster :p

So how do you like it so far? The ergos, steel, blade profile, etc. It seems useful; it would be a sweet knife to ride in the back pocket, especially with a lanyard like that.

It does... Kind of a warm fuzzy feeling, yet a little maniacal.

I love it. The color really pops and the handle just melts into my hand. I like the profile a little better than my full size Case Sodbuster since it seems to have a bit more of a tip. I am ashamed to admit that I'm still babying the knife for the time being. I know in the back of my mind that it is more than up to the task, but I still hold back. I'm going to work on changing that soon. :D I have quite the list to get accomplished this week.

Burned my hand yesterday. Found our only aloe plant in bad shape. So....
It helped with planting some aloe vera.
