Traditional Pocket Dumps

pocket dump; keys with Fenix flashlight, Vic Rambler, wallet and a traditional knife of the day, all in only 3 pockets

Came in for a break from yard work, pocket dumped. This is my pocket content every day. Not shown is a safety pin used to keep my knives vertical. I do wear a watch, and carry a phone too. The traditional knife does vary from time to time.

RFP: Pen, AAA flashlight, chapstick
LBP: hanker chief
LRP:wallet
RFP: folder and safety pin. IMG_2609.jpeg

Love that SBJ!!

I was going to start a thread on this very subject. I have been intrigued about everyday carry items for a while. Looking forward to participating in this thread.

Thanks Jakeywax31 Jakeywax31 !

The mods are iffy about it - and with good reason. It seems that similar threads (before my time) got too far off-track with either modern knives (prohibited here) or other items dominating the discussion.

I know that for me, when I see pics like the historical examples shown in the first post - I'm naturally drawn to the knife, or knives, in the group and I hope the pictures posted here are taken with the same spirit. I think everyone who has contributed so far has done an awesome job of accomplishing that!

I find it terribly interesting the variety of items that accompany us throughout our days - people of different regions, ages, and cultural backgrounds all carry a unique array of items personal to them, and I feel that they play a supporting role that gives context to the knife, or knives, they've selected to carry. As an example, Mallory's Lambfoot would certainly be interesting to me all on its own - but the inclusion of the other items recovered adds bits and pieces of the story that the knife alone might not be able to effectively tell.

I hope that this thread is able to remain active here in the traditional subforum for a long time to come and eagerly await seeing your contributions!

Can you share how the safety pin is used in relation to keeping your traditional in place?

It isn't!

It's just a thing I started carrying around one day. I've used it for tons of stuff - poking, scratching, picking, pinning - all kinds of things! Most recently, I used it to keep my scarf on in some high winds.

I suppose I could run it through the lanyard and then around a belt loop... never tried it, but it's something to think about! 👍

Ahhh. I must have misunderstood your earlier post. Thanks for clarifying.

I don't like a lot of stuff in my pockets. Since giving up smoking reduced it even more, I'm down to these things. Front left is a wallet I made and usually a few bills. Front right is a knife. That's all.

Often there may be a mini notebook and a piece of a pencil in my back right pocket, but not on Sunday night!

Today's pockets. Pretty simple - wallet, fob, Crotts-designed Dozier in a pocket sheath, and smartphone. We're going to throw caution to the winds and see if this thread will work out. Let's keep the emphasis on the traditional knives, please.

No, you didn’t misunderstand my post. birdsbeaks birdsbeaks might have thought you were referring to his pocket dump.

The safety pin is used to create a small vertical partition in the bottom inside corner (crotch side) of my right front pocket. It keeps my knife comfortably vertical at the bottom of my pocket. I don’t like when they rotate horizontal, especially if larger than -3” long.

Here is a pic to help with the description.

I learned this on the porch!

My pocket dump doesn't include a couple of the non traditional knives, but there are two of those one clipped in my front right pocket and one in my left back pocket ;) the following share the front two pockets along with my watch pocket.

A small worry stone that my friend Win Heger Win Heger sent with a box of other stones to my grandson many years ago now, grandson allowed me to keep this one :) and it rides in my watch pocket with a small Case folder and a very small flashlight.
my left front pocket carries my Schatt & Morgan that waynorth waynorth gifted me at GEC a while back when we met up there, really appreciate it too, it rides along side a Knipex XS pliers and a whistle and a Fisher Space Pen.
the right front pocket carries two SAK's a PioneerX and an Executive,

Old adage says, Two is one, one is none, maybe I carry that a bit further than necessary...but it works for me.

I misunderstood - thanks for clarifying! Yeah, that's a neat trick and the safety pin can be a tool in its own right if needed! 👍

It sounds and looks like you've got all your bases covered!

Your knives seem to transition from hard workers to museum-quality specimens and I'm sure the knipex pliers come in handy all the time - I just recently used mine to loosen the nut on the lead of a buddy's corroded car battery terminals!

This Wenger Pocket Tool Chest is in my watch pocket in jeans or cargo pants every day. Since I carry a large modern clipped to my front left pocket, and sometimes a small to medium slipjoint or lockback in the right front pocket under my keys, the Wenger's blade doesn't get used as much. But the other tools are used pretty much every day. Here's photos of the Wenger and its watch pocket companions, and showing all its tools, next to its red backup to show the Wenger logo I've worn off the black primary.

This weeks pocket knife along with my usual pocket contents.

the yellow birch outfitters pocket pico organizer allows me to easily carry a number of small things that I might not be able to carry otherwise, and some small things that I only carry because I've got a place to keep them.

Edit: I always forget about my flashlight clipped to my pocket when it comes to " EDC " pictures, I always know it's there when I need it and even notice when it's not but it's always forgotten about come picture time.
