Traditional Pocket Dumps

This weeks pocket knife along with my usual pocket contents.

the yellow birch outfitters pocket pico organizer allows me to easily carry a number of small things that I might not be able to carry otherwise, and some things small things that I only carry because I've got a place to keep them.
Now that's a pocket dump!

Gorgeous blades, sweet hank, and looks like enough tools to construct something serious!

I really like that axe thing and the Texaco tape measure!

Thanks for letting us peek into your pockets!

Thanks.
The little brass axe is something I made.

The Texaco Tape is great, they're the smallest tape measure I've ever found and the quality is excellent with great return.
I don't know who in the US made them ( maybe Barlow) but I originally had a white one from an insurance company that my dad gave me as a kid, it got so beat up I decided to find a replacement on Ebay and discovered the Texaco.

I actually have 3 of them , the Texaco, my original white one, and I have the little MARX toys " silvertape " from their pocket tools line of miniature tools.
Whoever made these supplied the internals to Marx.

I hoped the casing would be metal which would make it the ultimate little pocket tape measure, but sadly it's a chintzy vacuum chromed plastic that seems even less durable than the other 2 I have.

Hopefully I'm not derailing this thread by blabbering about micro tape measures, but they are something that was once a very common freebie promo item well known to the type of person who recognized the value of a pocket knife.

We do want to keep it focused on the knives, but those seem like a handy way of determining whether a blade is actually 3 and a half inches or closer to 3 and 5/8ths!

Edit: I saw the toothpick on the Rambler was in wrong, but now it's right.

Very nice! I'm digging the repurposed case slip as a knipex pliers sheath - and it looks like it's been carried many a mile!

Whenever I see an Altoids tin, I wonder if there are mints inside or a survival cache with fishing line, razor blade, C4, blasting caps, etc... that is, except in the grocery store - I assume those do have mints in them! 🤣

Please nobody sell the house key profile to anybody in Southwest Missouri.

I briefly had the same concern, but then I remembered I'm home all day with a bunch knives, dogs, and shotguns! 🤣

Work pocket dump. Work on a military installation so no firearm. Love this pocket organizer that sbh06 sbh06 made me. Fits perfectly in my front right pocket. Keep a knife, pen, flashlight (It also accommodates the larger Baton pro.), and he even added a little pocket on the back for a little prybar/bit driver doohickey on the back. If you are looking for something similar, he is your man.

No, you didn’t misunderstand my post. birdsbeaks birdsbeaks might have thought you were referring to his pocket dump.

The safety pin is used to create a small vertical partition in the bottom inside corner (crotch side) of my right front pocket. It keeps my knife comfortably vertical at the bottom of my pocket. I don’t like when they rotate horizontal, especially if larger than -3” long.

Here is a pic to help with the description.

I learned this on the porch!
I used to work with a guy who had put a couple of stitches in all his pants pockets for just the same reason. I was close to doing the same many times but ended up with a leather pocket sheath instead that holds an LT Wright Frontier Valley and a Buck 301 Stockman.

Man .... You fellas carry some stuff!

Belt AND Spenders needed 😁

It would be great to have a nice pen light, might have to look into that. I keep some knipex around too but they're in my small tool pouch which is usually not more than a few feet away.

Considered getting a fancier slip for the knipex and then came to my senses to not fix that which is not broken. The slip is normally on my belt.

I am fond of altoids. Those ones are different and good!

Gorgeous stuff there, man!

Some jobs just call for a fixed blade - and woe be unto the folder that tries to get it done!

Love how handmade leather goods pick up a patina of their own!

Thanks for dumping for us!

I have said for years I was going to put some stitches in. It’s still on the list…

I learned this "safety pin trick" on The Porch, too, and use it just like R rishma , except I create the literal "pocket sheath" in my left front pocket. I have a safety pin permanently installed in all of the pants I wear regularly.

Sweet set up Paul, everything that is useful and nothing that isn’t. Glad that organizer is working well for you.

I have always carried my knife loose in my right front pocket with my keys and change. I can’t imagine what could be easier than just reaching into your pocket and pulling out your knife. Slips, clips, stitched partitions, etc. all seem like unnecessary hindrances to ready access.
If you don't, where will all the awesome organically pocket-worn knives of the future come from?

I think this one has seen it's share of keys and change:

Nothing wrong with a slip. I personally don’t like a loose knife riding in the pocket. Most of my knives have meaning to me that I would like to preserve as well as I can for my kids. I am not afraid to use a knife and in fact will get rid of a knife that I won’t use. Your way is probably easier but I am a firm believer in taking care of my stuff. Knives are more than a tool to me. They represent friendships and are my hobby as well as being tools.

All that to say…… I’m sorry that I am not as manly as you 😂😂😂😂.

All kidding aside….. Happy you have a system that works for you.
