TRAPPER TUESDAY

Picked this one up this weekend in Lebanon, MO at the SHCC dinner...

Nice knife, but it doesn't go with the book's title. The knife should be a Schrade Uncle Henry 885UH, also known as the "King Ranch." (Yeah, I know it's a Stockman).
Well, the trapper is pretty common around here, and the King Ranch Saddle Shop (located a few blocks from where I work in Kingsville) sells plenty of Case knives with their Running W brand on them. I've seen Moore Maker in there too. And some very expensive knives whose name I can't remember. They don't sell Uncle Henry. (I like stockmans too.) :)

These are the only two Trappers I have. I’m still looking for a green one to complete the set. If I could ever find #0097, that would be terrific. I’d really like to handle a Case mini trapper. The dimensions look about right for what I consider an everyday knife.

The blades on this Remington want to be a trapper, they just didn’t get the memo about pivoting on the same side:confused:

Are those two from 1978? They are beauts!

A Google search got me there, but it's super high $$. Regardless, I too favor those slim trappers. Those were/are well made.

They are definitely a solid knife for sure. I’m not sure about other parts of the country but I have never seen anyone pull a trapper out of their pocket in the Northwest. I might just have to start carrying one to strata trendo_O
