Traveling with your knife..or not.

. This was shortly after some guy supposedly cut the head off the guy sitting next to him, and was supposedly cutting bite size pieces off and eating him. 🤢
I don't know if that story is true.)
Yes, this happened on a Canadian Greyhound, the perpetrator was schizophrenic, was released too about 3yrs ago.

And I learned about this only a few days after I had made arrangements to go on a several thousand mile Greyhound tour across multiple States!

Every airport should have an area set aside for boarding passengers to sell/swap knives etc with arriving passengers ! 🤔
I see a problem with this: given the vast amount of flea market/gas station junk the TSA thieves expropriate (and sell back to the public), you'd spend hours or days waiting for something even as worthwhile as a Classic SD.

That is some timing 😂
I hope you enjoy the USA, though! Greyhound buses have always had a slight sketchy element to them in my experience but some awareness will go a long way.

I enjoyed my trip. This was back in 2011/2012. I came from Niagara Falls crossing down to Virginia, then did a loop between Virginia and Oklahoma twice, then Oklahoma to Florida, and finally back to Canada. I met many interesting people, saw lots of great sites, and broadened my horizons more in three months than I had in my previous 3 decades.

Next time swing by MA and say hi!

Oh, sweet! Yeah, travelling has that broadening effect indeed :)

That particular grayhound route is notoriously boring but rough enough to keep someone from sleeping. Anyway, simple answer is to have a digestive condition that requires you to travel with a kitchen, easy way to always need to check a bag, and thus always fly with a knife. Not to diminish anyone's feelings, but when we are dipping into the range of "preference" over "need" its always worth a perspective check. Not to say that no one is allowed to have preferences, but sometimes the challenge of maintaining capabilities while under artificial constraints is very useful.

To make sure I have a tool and or weapon on me, when I travel by air I will purchase a junk knife there for the purpose of use there, and will abandon it when i leave
I use to work in tsa and the number of forgotten luggage or luggage that got placed on the wrong plane is astronomically high, not to mention baggage handlers mishandle your stuff worse than usps
In addition, your luggage is placed under the plane before you even board your bird, so if you miss your flight, don't forget to waive goodbye to your luggage and wish it safe travels,
To take full circle, don't carry anything you don't want to lose

I don’t fly with a knife anymore. I feel naked without one but I know I will forget it in my pocket when going through TSA.

Happened all the time, one guy broke down and cried, it was a folding knife his dad left him, but it was either check it in, mail it to his traveling destination or surrender it, and he chose to surrender, and he was a soaking rag of tears
I felt for him
