Trevor Ablett RIP

Trevor's knives have all but disappeared from the marketplace, but I found this one, and a couple more from a knife dealer in Australia!

A beautiful knife, some call it a curved Ettrick, but I prefer to use the term slim pruner. A Rose by any name . . . .!

Nice work Trevor - Rest in Peace, knowing we won't forget you!

That's as nice a Trevor Ablett as I've seen Charlie, nicely done stag, and I prefer the shorter front bolster. I've seen that same pattern sold as a peach pruner

Thanks for appreciating it, Jack!
I was amazed that I bought such a nice one from several thousand miles away, Jack. It's pretty Peachy!!!:D
It is probably the one I would have chosen in person. Nice people selling them; too bad I cannot mention them on the forum!
It's a good rule though!

I'm very glad you were able to find one Charlie, particularly one so nice :) That looks like Sambar if I'm not mistaken, which Trevor didn't have access to for some years. What do you think Charlie, combined with the short front bolster, I'm wondering if you have an older knife? I'm not sure exactly when Trevor started putting his name on his knives, but I can find out as the know the person who suggested he do so.

That's a nice one, Russell. It has the straight edge of a true Ettrick!

Most impressive Stag on that Prunettrick Charlie!

A knife anybody would covet....

Thanks, Will

If you mean Tasmania, I just can agree, really nice persons there. This one also traveled across (over?) the oceans.

Sorry to hear of his passing. I always think it's neat to see how many Trevor's (my name) there are across the pond. Not such a common name in the States. I'd love to find one of his knives, T.W. are my initials!

It seems a fitting tribute that Trevor Ablett is the first entry in Geoffrey Tweedale's Directory of Sheffield Cutlers.

So he is! :) That's an interesting Ablett Barlow, I've not seen one like that before

Jack, except for the etching on the bolster (if it is) I don't see much difference with mine. Just the "made in Sheffield England" tag is in a oval instead of straight letters. I wish I had the ettrick lying under.

Yes indeed JP, I think Charlie did well to find such a nice knife
