Tri Ad Lock Failure

Other than sheer entertainment value, why do people continue to do these type "lock failure / spine whack" videos?

They are lost on me. I can say in 30+ years of using knives I have never used one so hard that a spine whack failure was even a concern.

If I have to use a knife that hard then the fixed blades make an appearance.

I say again - they are entertaining...:D

I agree, spine whack tests are meaningless.

However, this test did show two things:

1- The Triad lock isn’t all that.
2- Lockbacks can be inadvertently closed due to their inherent design.:D

It didn't prove anything other than show how not to hold a knife when doing spine whacks....

I rest my case.

Well yeah, if the lock was pressed then the blade is going to close and the end result will be the same as what happened.

That's the only way it could have happened.

The guy even said that that he pressed the lock.

I don't think there's an issue with lock release in a regular grip, there is so much travel necessary to disengage the lock that I don't think the palm of your hand or webbing between thumb and index finger can depress it far enough.

This forum needs a "Banging head against a wall" icon added to the list....

yes, then everyone could post one immediately following every one of your posts.

in the meantime, why don't you conduct tests of lockstrength on dissengaged locks?
