Hi Gang! Today, at the Christmas gathering, my niece asked if anyone had a knife to cut off a plastic tag on a new pair of socks. I said, I do, and cut the tag off. My niece then said to me, why do you have a knife? :eek:
All true.

I'm tellin ya! I went brain dead for a second and then I said to her just that... to cut things with. Goodgawd!!

Hahaha

My kids where opening up presents this morning and couldn't open the boxes. My wife looked at me and said: "where is your knife mr. I need to buy a new knife every week" as I didn't have one on me.

I always let them struggle a bit before I offer to help, it's fun watching someone get defeated by a one inch piece of tape :D
 
I spend at least half the time I'm playing with my knives thinking up snarky responses to that exact question. My personal favorite remains the simple, "Because you don't."

My girlfriend likes knitting. So she had a older friend over and they were knitting today. My girlfriend said honey can you cut that yarn for her. I said sure, I had my Medford praetorian g/t on me. Pulled it out and opened it up. No lie the lady jumped back and said, oh my..... lol

Then she had a knot in her yarn she asked me to cut it...... so I did and she said is that knife legal??? Of course it is...
It was Funny. 😀

Today I was asked why I was using my pocket knife to cut my chicken. I replied " because I know my knife is sharp , it doesn't get tossed around with other utensils in a stainless Steel sink "
 
I play golf. In any given foursome with which I play regularly (all single digit handicappers), the odds are very good that three of us will have knives in our pockets. It's hard for this Southern boy to relate.
 
Everyone in family know that I always carry a knife. Nobody asked me for help. I feel useless.

I live in upstate NY, just outside of Ithaca. I can't say I've ever had a negative reaction to someone seeing a knife being pulled. I think it may be more of a city vs country as opposed to north vs south?

Hear that a lot, but they never refuse the cut they need. I'm more like :rolleyes: to that one than :)

A guy in my son's office often needs something cut. K obliges and most often hears, "That's not legal"--a response that rates a :thumbdn::grumpy:, but the cut still gets made.

Thank God these illegal, deadly weapons still have some modest utility to the more enlightened among us. :p

I mean, I was dumb-struck when I was asked that question. I hope this was isolated incident. :D
 
Hey Rolf...

You could always tell her that some of us have evolved into tool users. The others spend a lot of time in their dentist's chair.
