True Survival Knife HELP???

That trailer or something like it is the way to go "surviving" in the woods for a long period of time. You have a ready made insulated shelter with modern conveniences if you have the energy to run them. Good place to store all your knives, firearms and ammunition too.

As far as a knife goes, I think the Busse is just fine. I don't see the choice as a really big deal but if you like the Busse, get the Busse. Most of us find a way to buy the knife that at the time we think will be "the one". I'm looking for another "one" a year later. For me, a 4-6" bladed knife is where it's at for any woods activity suited for a knife. The rest is just fun and games. Most people can't effectively yield a really large knife safely unless they are using it to chop with. But the important tasks don't involve chopping and an axe is better suited for that. You aren't going to build a log cabin with your Busse, ESEE, or Kabar Becker. These days, most people use a chain saw and that would fit nicely inside that trailer.

Have you ever watched that movie? It's on Netflix; that trailer (he called it the Magic School Bus) was also his grave. He went off into the Alaska Wildnerness with limited supplies and only partial knowledge (he learned how to smoke small game in Montana, but didn't know that those methods would not work on large game), without a map (that's debatable), and starved to death or suffered rabbit starvation (a condition where someone trapping small game that is also lean doesn't get enough fat, and the energy it takes your body to process the high protein isn't replenished by the amount of energy you get out of it) because the river had thawed and he didn't know there was a bridge 2 miles up the river. The guys name was Christopher McCandless I believe. The movie was based on a true story. There have been many more Christopher McCandless than there have been Dick Proennekes (those that not only survive, but thrive over a lifetime living simply in solitude), and you'd be surprised at the level of skill that some of the people that have died on trips into the wilderness had.

I think you'd enjoy that movie 22 rimfire (or at least parts of it. I've never gotten through the whole thing without falling asleep, but parts of it are really good). If you have Netflix, look it up.

ETA- I just realized we're talking about 2 different trailers. The one on the video display is in Slab City (a place where welfare people have set up a tent city that looks like hillbilly Bagdad. I think it's in Nevada.) The School Bus I was referring to is an abandoned bus he found in the Alaskan wilderness that he made camp in.

Its funny how choosing a group of knives for survival kit is 100x easier then trying to find this single special knife.

That is because what you're looking for doesn't exist and never will. Sorry to be blunt, but somebody had to say it.

ETA: Just a reply to your OP: VG10 is not a super steel. M390, S110V, S90V, etc. are examples of stainless super steels.

I just tossed a half dozen stainless Mora's into different packs, the car trunk winter kit etc. and forget about them. Now that this obsession is taken care of, I can now work on my one super storm mega apocalyptic nuclear earthquake hand to hand grizzly killing knife. It must be out there, considering how many threads come up on the topic

if I was forced to grab ONE of my knives before I headed out the door, itd be my Fallkniven F1...with the zytel sheath. ive used the heck out of a couple F1s and IMO they are the most durable/usable 4"ish fixed blade for the money.
