Truthfully, has anyone on here ever had a cold steel knife fail???

Blame for what ? i didn't blame no one , i just shared my experience and my opinion regarding cold steel
The question was "has anyone on here ever had a cold steel knife fail???" , and that's what I answered , as simple as that

It's good that you made that clear because I got the impression that you blamed the knife.

And BTW , I don't know what "answer" are you looking for , but either way , I don't owe you any answers my friend , so be gone

Yep, you don't, but just saying "I broke a knife while I was using it hard" just doesn't make for a lot of credibility.

Yeah , I broke the blade (at the pivot) of my recon 1 tanto

It's nice that you have a strong lock like the tri-ad , but after all being said , the lock can only be as strong as the other main components of the knife , and well , the blade is obviously one of them
Sounds like you were doing some heavy duty prying with the knife to have broke the blade at the pivot. Any knife can be broke if abused hard enough. How thick is the blade of your ZT as compared to the Recon? If it's thicker then that would probably explain why the ZT hadn't broke yet doing the same thing with it that broke the Recon. Personally I don't care much for liner locks. I would pick the Cold Steel Tri-Ad lock everytime over the ZT's liner lock.

I've never had one fail out of all the crazy things I've put mine through. Lynn may be nuts and obnoxious and really we all hate his guts, and no they arent better than striders or anything.... BUT he does make a decent knife. And they can take some punishment.

I have used some cold steel knives really hard, and never had any problems!!!They perform as advertised....and are really tough! Ill definitely buy more cold steel products!!!!

I would not know since I do all I can not to spend money on things produced by a company that lacks basic ethics. There are a lot of companies that make fantastic knives and I would much rather support the ones with acceptable ethics and advertising policies that I can actually identify with for that matter.

I've never had any serious.
CS Spartan wouldn't open properly and got stuck 90% of the way. Sorted it out by cleaning the grit I found out the pivot lock area

I own about a half a dozen CS knives and have had no failures in 15 years of usin' their knives.

Truthfully, I don't believe that I've ever had any knives by any company fail me.

I use knives to cut, slice, carve, sometimes chop and poke holes in things (no car doors or oil barrels, though). Pretty much any knife made can do that. The difference between knives is the sharpness and ability to hold an edge during periods of usage, but so many seem to have forgotten this.

My medium voyager has a small amount of up and down play. Was like that since i bought it.

6 year old Kukri machete I cracked the handle a few months ago while throwing. 5 1/2 years of good throwing and everything else tho. Piece of crap (Heeheehee).

Not from normal use. My friend was batoning wood with his Recon 1 and smacked the handle and part of the lock failed. He took it apart and fixed it, no problems. Then the same friend put a torch to the end of his AK-47. The tip broke off when he stabbed it into wood and twisted for a while. But I've never seen one fail when you're using it like a normal person.

I have the CS Bushman, Recon Scout (Taiwan Mar-Tempered), Rajah 2, Rajah 3, Kukri Machete regular and Magnum, GI Tanto and a Mini-Tac Tanto. All have been used as hard as any of my "expensive knives". (brand name omitted to prevent outburst of flames) I dont feel unprepared with these CS products. YMMV

I think Cold Steel simply gets a bad rep for their presentation. Awesome knives, and the difference in steels between these and a more expensive company is marginal. People just like to follow the crowd. I myself see the value of Cold Steel moreso than Busse, Fehrman, etc. I do not need such an expensive knife. It comes down to want. Unless I really want a particular design, I'm not going to buy something that expensive no matter how many people espouse the virtues of said product. Lemme buy 2 Junglas' for the price of a Busse, or 3 Recon Scouts from Cold Steel. If a Busse is 100% up to the job, a Junglas is 90-95% or even equal to a Busse, and a Recon Scout doesn't fall for behind. And for all the people talking about Cold Steel being "tacticool"....what do you think Busse is? Expensive combat knives that people go out and chop shit with. Combat wakizashis? C'mon. Have knife loyalty, not brand loyalty.

lol lots of pple laugh at Lynn Thompson.........and whatever but i think he puts out really good product for the price.........and some pple compare him to John Fitzen and his knife fighting series or whatever.Thats ridicuolus.......Lynn is very skilled. at what he does......theres no point comparing him to some idiots! hes very smart man!

can't recall the model name but 10-15 years ago they came out with a lock back knife with Carbon 5 blades, the lock stopped working after a few weeks,no hard use at all

I bought a CS SRK (high carbon steel version) when I was in Iraq my second tour. I bought it so I could throw it for a couple of days before I broke it. Well, needless to say, I abused the hell out of it and never broke it. I was rather surprised because I was incredibly hard on it. I still have it and it now lives in my BOB. Love that knife!:)

Yes. Unfortunately and it shocked the hell out of me.

Voyager X2
I was getting the ribs of the 3rd deer of the season, It was hung hind legs from a tree, i struck wrong.
The blade went in towards the spine and curled to the right for an inch at the spot that got wedged between the rib and spine.
I can say this with absolute confidence: when i hit the spine i beat the s#!t out of it with that one strike! it took a hell of a lot to do what i did, i use its replacement with utmost confidence i will likely never break it and i dont use it lightly, i use it like Lynn does in the abuse vids sometimes.
