Trying to find a cheap USA made edc

Buck makes lots of options for under $30 that will fit your needs. They do a good job with 420 steel and its easy to sharpen. Just did a quick look on knifecenter and found over 100 Buck variants that are under $30, both fixed and folders and should fit your needs. What I like about Buck is they have many different versions and colors of the same model. They are cheap enough and common enough that if you lose one, break it or have it stolen it's easily replaced from a local store or online. I have 15 year old Buck 110 that cost $30 at the time, a buck siris and sandman that probably retailed for more, they were gifts. My daily edc knife is a Buck small vantage. Nice little knife, even if its not perfectly centered, cost a whole $14 and is razor sharp after a few swipes on the croc sticks after a few weeks of use.

The Buck Spitfire looks like it could fit the bill. I don't own one though. The Spyderco UKPKs are good US-made folders with a 2.9" blade (cutting edge slightly smaller.) I picked up an SE GIN-1 blade for about $28ish and have been happy with it... doesn't need a lock, imo.
