Actually, it depends upon the lighting...

Originally these were known as "Federdrücker". The smaller blade was used to sharpen pencils or a writing quill (Schreibfeder in German). The larger blade locks, to unlock it, you must press on the small one. This version actually replaced the secondary blade with a cap lifter, but im gonna count that as a "second blade".
