Turn Your Radio On!

Charlie, any plans on doing a caplifter with a sheepsfoot?

Just, y'know, out of curiosity like, not saying I'd be interested in such a thing at all, it's erm, an enquiry purely for thoroughness sake.

Ooh! Me too, please!

What a great idea, Paul! Or maybe a clip blade with a cap lifter?!

I'm curious too, just for the sake of conversation. Not that I would ever buy one...or two... ;)

Radio Knife

I might be executed in a minute, but I will dare say what I think about these knives.
It's obviously a matter of pure taste, but to me none of the knives made by GEC on their #15 frame (not even Charlows) can stand the comparison with the Radio Jack (bolster, wood, capped end, diamond shield, pin placement). Thinking about it, none of the knives made by GEC on any other frame can.
Whoever took part in the design gets my applause.

Let's just make it a standing ovation! I agree with you, Fausto.

...until my next Charlow comes in...:)

I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival of my Blood Red Radio Jack w/caplifter! :)

I've become increasingly fascinated with the #15 lately. The Barlow is just as classic as any pocket knife there is. Then this Diamond Radio Jack is the Premium of the 15 series in this UN-X-LD version. The basic single spear Boy's Knife in Ebony is also a classic that's caught my attention as of late.

So many knives to make, so little time.

I don't know. I think my next one might be the Razor Barlow. It is long overdue!:(

There is another project brewing also.

I think this will be the last caplifter for a while. But nothing is ruled out in the longer term.

I think you like the diamond shield :-)

Gec makes a very similar Crown Lifter Boys knife with the same spear blade, bolster, ebony wood, capped end and 4 pin placement. I think the differences from Boys to the Diamond Radio are, the added shield, brass liners and pins, notched handle, tang stamp, and blade etch.

Here is a knife that for my taste does not need a shield, headcap, 4 pins, or church key, since Im a capital T Totaler :-)... Something for everyone, from Charlie with Love

trivia, both the Jade plant and the Ebony are African

I think you're right. That's why I like the aesthetics of the RJ so much, cause usually I don't care for shields at all :D yet the diamond shield looks just right on that frame. On the other hand, I never liked the long bolsters on Barlow knives.
Pure taste, of course ;)

Been eyeing up this pattern for a while. Charlie's tasty touches have tipped me over the edge. Feeling decidedly like I'd missed the boat and coming ever closer to sending Charlie a poorly disguised begging letter I finally tracked one down in the wee hours!

So, I've got one in blood red winging it's way over, hurrah! No pic's of these yet...!!?

Have a couple blood red inbound myself. Not seeing many pics of the red yet as they were delayed a bit and just getting out there I think.

Here's a quick (awful quality) snapshot of mine that came in yesterday afternoon. I really like how dark the dye is in the jigged portions, and like all the others is great in the F&F department. I have two of the three handle materials (red bone and ebony), my son-in-law has what was my third (chestnut bone, his pick). The caplifter saw a little bit of use during my visit with my daughter, him, and my grandson a few days ago.

I honestly would be hard-pressed to pick a favorite, I like them all.

I missed the Radio Jack... :(

But, I did pick up a couple Crown Lifters. It's a nice piece, quite close to the alox SAK that usually sits in my pocket. I'm tempted to try the Harness Jack also.
