Mornin', ya'll. So I talked to Kabar today, and got some info release permission. Its not really HUGE, but I think that it will be a step above anything that we've seen so far.
Kabar has been working towards getting a better way of marking the blades, one that doesn't involve so many steps, so, as of 2012, all BKT's will have laser etching. It takes a few steps out of the process, and eliminates bent blades like what we saw with the BK14's that slipped out.
Also, there will be a new, textured coating similar to what you see on blades like ESEE, TOPS, and so on. Its Kabar's own ingredients, and from what I hear, it will be tougher, and look better.
No, there hasn't been anything yet on colors, so, for right now, black on black is what you get.
If ya'll remember, I said something a while back about folks thinking they will be getting "counterfeit BKT's" and this is why. With the new coating and laser etching, these new knives will look badass.
Johnson Adventure blades will be recieving the same treatment as well.
So, the entire BKT lineup, Tweeners included, JAB knives, will have a new tougher finish, and laser etched logos, so, if you want a roll stamped and era specific Becker, best be getting it now, as the Kabar warehouse is filling up with new laser etched blades as we speak.
