Twenty Eight Buck Knives in the Process of Getting New Covers

That is absolutley gorgeous Mark. I think we now have the east coast "Leroy". When does "Stumps Custom Knives" open up. I'll be at the grand opening. :D

Mark. That barehead 110 with mammoth scales is one of the best looking 110's I have ever seen. 1st class my friend. 1st class.

You ought to inlet the 50th Anniversary emblems back on. That is one of your big collection themes.

That's a good idea…thanks! I plan on going back and pinning some of the knives and I will take a look at that then.
A stag 110 I got from Heath had that done and it looks great.

Wow Mark,

That's a beautiful custom/custom! When do I place my order;).

Thanks John! :)

Thanks George! There won't be a Stumps Custom Knives. I'm just having fun. :)

Thank you kindly James! I kinda like it too! :)

That barehead mammoth is awesome. Great work!

Thank you very much!!:)

Okay…got another set of five knives done. That leaves only five more knives out of the 28 to finish and post here. I know…you can't wait till I'm done so I quit posting so much. :p
You can see some of the progression by going back in this thread to post #1 and post #15 and check out the 5th photo from the top in both those posts.
I still intend to go back when I'm all done and figure out which ones I'm gonna pin.
I also intend to give a lot of thought to st8yd's suggestion about adding the 50th Anniversary medallion back to some of these.
The Sambar stag 110 that I bought from Heath Stone had the medallion in it and I always liked that, so it may happen in my spare time. :)

The top one I showed by itself when I got it done. It is a Buck Custom Shop 50th Anniversary 110 that I ordered with nickel silver bolsters, finger groove, S30V blade and walnut covers. Now it has a piece of buffalo horn and a piece of nickel silver just behind the front bolster to give it separation from the mammoth ivory. I ground of the rear bolster to make use of the large piece of ivory I had. I really like this one!
Second from the top has brass bolsters and exterior ram's horn.
Third from the top is an Alaskan Guide that now has Sambar stag covers.
Fourth from the top is another Alaskan Guide 110 that is dressed up with mammoth ivory.
The bottom knife used to be a Chairman 301 with nickel silver bolsters. I guess it's still a Chairman 301, but now it has Sambar stag bolsters.

I'M DONE!!!!
Well, at least with all the grinding, sanding and buffing. Next will be to look at which ones get pinned and to think more about adding the 50th Anniversary medallion to some.

I can't believe…28 of them done.

Here is the last bunch of five that are also pictured in post #1 and post #15 in this thread….fourth picture down in both posts.

Top knife is exterior ram's horn.
Second down is an older 301 that is now sporting Impala jigged buffalo horn.
Third down is worm grooved bone.
Fourth down is an Alaskan Guide with exterior ram's horn.
Last one has Impala jigged buffalo horn.

I've had lots of fun with this project, but really am ready for a break.
The 110s will be added to my 50th Anniversary collection and eventually to the display of the now 112 50th Anniversary Buck 110s I've collected. :)

I'm just drooling over all the Bucks, let alone the new covers you put on. Looks good and I'll keep watching. Thanks for sharing.

Stumps, Handsome work. Thanks for taking the time to post all these photos. Some good days in the shop. DM

Thanks again everyone! I did have fun working on these.

Last week st8yd suggested I put the 50th medallion in a handle.
I thought I had lots of them, but there were only a little over half a dozen 50th medallions since most of the knives re-handled were either the NS Chairman series with small blue "Buck" medallion or the Alaskan Guide series with no medallion.

I spent some time yesterday pinning a few knives and gave the medallion thing a try….put it on an Alaskan Guide that received new camel bone covers.
I didn't like doing that! All I had was a large router and it was too hard to see what the router bit was cutting…so this is probably going to be the only one I do.

Mark all of your knives are gorgeous. Just my 2 cents ... I prefer no medallion and no pins but they are awesome either way.

That is fantastic Mark,

With the first 50th Buck 110 I saw I wanted a finger groove smooth sanded Elk handle with that 50th medallion inset. That bone gives me an idea of what it would look like:thumbup:. I like it a lot, now NK or BR frame?

John…if you are going to get a 50th medallion put on the knife, I would personally go with the brass, but that's just me.
I don't think the medallion looks as nice with NS bolsters.
I don't remember seeing any factory 50th Anniversary 110s with ns blotters and this particular medallion.

Let me know if you would like to see a picture of the two different configurations. I would just set the medallion in place on a NS and a brass bolstered 110 for the picture.

That is one super sweet setup :)
I really like how that one looks.

What a great project!! You must be pretty pleased to have it done. The results are beautiful. Nice work!

Great job as usual Stumps! This is the first one I can remember seeing pins on as well as the shield. That Alaskan Guide 50th makes for a heck of a package!
