I'm not one to hate "made in ?" (China usually), i prefer US made; Germany, Taiwan, etc. But i respect a decent product, wherever it came from... Crap is crap, quality is quality, and many budget brands by many different names fall somewhere in the between, but i'm not talking about pure quality vs. trash. I'm not talking about the cheap "catalog" Knives, that multiple low end brands simply stamp their individual logos on (think of many of the Boker "Magnum" line clones)...

I'm talking about the straight knockoffs, ripoffs of quality designs from quality brands, completely devoid of any actual creativity of their own. The ones where one company (usually in China due to leniancy and even lack of patent laws or enforcements), completely, blatently, and obviously copied another company's original design, and pass it off as their own...
H&K 14205 :: Ganzo g704

Benchmade 950 Rift :: Ganzo g710

LionSteel SR1 :: Ganzo g720
(only change is the locking mechanism)

Plenty more out there, completely devoid of any actual originality or creativity, any others. Feel free to share 'em...

Let me sum up every thread about clones:

-OP starts a thread about clones

-A small amount of discussion entails

-bld522 makes a "guest appearance"

-Conflicting opinions arise

-"Sinophobes!!!"

-Butthurt ensues

-Thread Closed...

I was actually hoping for less "discussion" and more side by side pics,
since a picture is worth 1000 words...

And side by side pics is blatant promotion of such counterfeits. Tells people how to avoid buying the real deal and get an inferior product for less. I wonder how Benchmade and the other companies feel about this promotion happening on this forum. Surprised this is still up. Should be closed and pictures removed.

Didn't you start a thread showing people a Schrade copy of the Gerber LMF2? You even provided a link showing people where they could buy the copy. It was this thread here- http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1340725-Schrade-LMF2-much

If it's alright for you to talk about copies, and even post links to where they can be purchased, what's wrong with the OP posting pics of copies? He isn't even saying where they can be bought or providing links to the vendors.

I think craytab owns the forum! Lol

Yay another thread extolling copyright infringement and hurting g American businesses to save a couple bucks

Hardly extolling the practice, nearly addressing it... Closing your eyes and ignoring it doesn't make it go away.

It's a shameful practice, and unfortunately anyone who is willing/looking to purchase an inferior product, period, isn't likely going to consider paying top dollar for the real thing either way, with or without a thread such as this... Kind if like an alcoholic won't stop drinking, even if you ban alcohol, not until/unless it's on their own terms, sick and tired of being sick and tired: same applies to folks willing to purchase inferior knock offs, until they get sick of their cheaper blades breaking, chipping, and dulling prematurely, and they realize they'd have been better served just spending more once to last many years, possibly a life time, rather then paying less again and again, only to pay more in the long run... Some will never get it though unfortunately...but again, those people hell bent on looking for a $20 knife, are not going to consider a $100+ superior model, no matter what. I think addressing the issue openly is at least a better approach to put the topic out there then pretending it doesn't happen.

If you can't understand the difference than I shall not waste my time explaining it to you.

And this coming from the guy who asked other people not to use his screen name in reference to posts he has made:

Shall we continue these childish rehashings of our past here on this forum?

Because $60 for j2 is such a bad deal you don't think anyone will buy, whereas $20 for possibly 9Cr but no worse than 7cr is pretty good?

Zero
