Twins! (aka-knockoffs)

Because $60 for j2 is such a bad deal you don't think anyone will buy, whereas $20 for possibly 9Cr but no worse than 7cr is pretty good?

Zero

Zero.....time to explain this to you either. Go read the other thread again.

Hardly extolling the practice, nearly addressing it... Closing your eyes and ignoring it doesn't make it go away.

It's a shameful practice, and unfortunately anyone who is willing/looking to purchase an inferior product, period, isn't likely going to consider paying top dollar for the real thing either way, with or without a thread such as this... Kind if like an alcoholic won't stop drinking, even if you ban alcohol, not until/unless it's on their own terms, sick and tired of being sick and tired: same applies to folks willing to purchase inferior knock offs, until they get sick of their cheaper blades breaking, chipping, and dulling prematurely, and they realize they'd have been better served just spending more once to last many years, possibly a life time, rather then paying less again and again, only to pay more in the long run... Some will never get it though unfortunately...but again, those people hell bent on looking for a $20 knife, are not going to consider a $100+ superior model, no matter what. I think addressing the issue openly is at least a better approach to put the topic out there then pretending it doesn't happen.

I have hardly closed my eyes and ignored it.

Arguably the Schrade stands a better chance of taking market share from the SMF.
When a SRM 710 is $12 and a sebenza is $400, everyone, even NON-knife people know they're not equivalent, and won't make the mistake. Given that both knives cost the same, it's VERY easy to confuse them, and while 420HC doesn't make me jump for joy, it's a sight better than j2.

And why don't you have time if you've been spending all day on the forum and now on friday night are still here?

I'll play with a couple of inexpensive knives. I don't consider the second to be a counterfeit, but the scale design was definitely "borrowed " by one of them. The Kershaw has an assisted action, the Colt is very manual, but very smooth. The materials are quite different also. Colt is lightweight aluminum, the Kershaw is very heavy steel. Both can be had for under $20.

I did not purchase the Colt to buy a cheaper copy of a Kershaw. I love kershaws, and have tons of them. But in this case, I actually owned the Colt approx 8-10 months before I even knew the Kershaw model existed. And I didn't buy the Kershaw because it looked like my Colt. I simply wanted to try out one of their newest discount assisted flippers, and that model was the one available at the time.

If you can't understand the difference than I shall not waste my time explaining it to you.
No explanation required, the hypocrisy is obvious. You created a thread to show people a blatant copy of a knife, and here you criticize the OP for posting pictures of copies. Like I said- the hypocrisy is obvious.

But there is one big difference between your thread and this one, the OP here didn't provide a link showing people where to buy the copy and how much it costs.

Nothing promotes the sale of copies like providing links to where they can be purchased.

And this coming from the guy who asked other people not to use his screen name in reference to posts he has made:

Is that the best you could come up with? Nothing in that thread embarrasses me. After all, it's not like I was exposed to the entire forum as a blatant hypocrite.

Shall we continue these childish rehashings of our past here on this forum?
"Childish"? Yes, that's the word I would use. When someone goes around this forum bullying people, pretending to be in charge and telling people what topics they can and cannot discuss, yes, I would call them "childish".

Good work killgar

I'm not reading what you write in this post just like others!

Yay another thread extolling copyright infringement and hurting g American businesses to save a couple bucks

Well, let's see, the going price for the LionSteel SR series is about $170-200. The Asian copy is going for about $30 dollars. That is more than "a couple of bucks."

I'm sorry, for that much difference in price I can not ignore the Asian clone. Now, I would not purchase the clone instead of the LionSteel but I would certainly pick one up to test the waters to see if the basic design meets my needs before I plunked down 200 clams for the Italian beauty.

The clones to which you refer aren't "Asian". They are specifically Chinese. Chinese copies of various products are hurting other Asian countries as well as western nations. No other Asian country is globally known for product counterfeiting, copyright and trademark infringement and intellectual property theft and an unwillingness to play by the rules of the international community.

Let me sum up every thread about clones:

-OP starts a thread about clones

-A small amount of discussion entails

-bld522 makes a "guest appearance"

-Conflicting opinions arise

-"Sinophobes!!!"

-Butthurt ensues

-Thread Closed...

Hahaha. Bingo.

Nope. I own the internet. Now pay me for the right to use the interwebs. Pm me for payment instructions.

Hey, ah Cray ole buddy? So, I'm, uh, I'm going to be late this month. Listen, some things came up, and I promise I'll get this month's payment to you by the end of the week.

Please don't send your crew around to my house again, ok? I'll have the money, I promise!!

For all the members who think ignoring the counterfeit problem makes it go away, try again.

You want to have a real impact? Do what I do, but do it en masse:
Buy the clones direct from the importers, demand a refund due to the product being counterfeit, then throw it away.

Too much work, you say? Then don't pat yourself of the back for being so righteous that you "take a real stand" by simply ignoring a thread.

Winters coming.

A store without customers is called "out of business".

The problem with that is the company responsible for importing the counterfeit still gets their cut and thus has no reason to put a stop to the import of such items.
