Twins! (aka-knockoffs)

The problem with that is the company responsible for importing the counterfeit still gets their cut and thus has no reason to put a stop to the import of such items.

Still at it, huh? Well as you point out, life is messy and complicated . . . far too complicated for practically anybody to get their heads around completely. Don't get me wrong. I struggle with it too. I've just been on the planet long enough to realize that things are never quite as black and white as they seem.

For all the members who think ignoring the counterfeit problem makes it go away, try again.

You want to have a real impact? Do what I do, but do it en masse:
Buy the clones direct from the importers, demand a refund due to the product being counterfeit, then throw it away.

Too much work, you say? Then don't pat yourself of the back for being so righteous that you "take a real stand" by simply ignoring a thread.

How many dollars have you cost them? I'd think if you're doing this "en masse" the Chinese site would soon ban you?

I just bought 37 Medford Praetorian clones, what do I do next?

So now I understand we all need to steal from the companies that are producing these knives so they'll stop.......because that's what your doing.

Two wrongs don't make a right.....or did you miss that speech from your folks....................

Can anybody really believe that someone, would buy a bunch of fake knives from China and think they're going to get refunded, then throw them away if they get a refund? Sounds a bit extreme to me and risky.

On another line of thought, does anybody know if the Ganzo g716 is a direct rip off of anything? Because I'd like the real deal if it exists. I feel like I've seen it before but I just can't find it.

Kinda funny, I'm looking to do the exact opposite of the norm when it comes to clones. I've had a clone Hinderer through no fault of my own, someone gave it to me in a trade and I took it cause it was just a free "add-on". It was absolute junk, and I'd be surprised if it lasted a day of use.

Based on their per-unti cost, probably not a whole lot.
Then again, something is better than nothing, and if thousands of BF members did it only once, it might make a dent.

So, if the knives were confiscated by some authority and destroyed, would you consider it two wrongs making a right?
I'm not an authority, butthen again, the people producing these knives are not the owners of the design/copyright/etc. (except in case of expired patents, like the axis lock).

Get paid, throw them away and watch the knife world turn rosey!

Which has more of an impact than saying (and possibly beleiving "I'm not going to contribute to a thread about knockoffs. THAT will stop the thievery from happening."

Nobody here is interested in dealing with Aliexpress, for one they know the stuff is fake, if they're selling it knowing it's fake to start with why would you trust them to refund you?

I give you points for creativity and principle, but Jill Jackson is very much correct.

The people importing "counterfeit" goods into this country are breaking the law. That means they are criminals, dishonest people, etc. You really can't trust them to honor a return policy.

All the importer has to do is cancel or modify their return policy. And if they receive enough return requests to cut into their profits you can bet that they will cancel, or modify their return policy and leave all of those buyers holding the bag.

I've bought several things on AE, had a few complaints about the items, they refunded immediatly no questions asked, or send you a replacement if you want.
They just hate negative feedback, and will do anything to keep you happy :D
Sure, it's all cheap crap... but you really should'nt set high expectations for those prices...

Just my toughts...

What it all comes down to at the end of the day is:

Everybody is out to make money, but sadly enough, some people make money by tricking and stealing.
Person A makes a knife for $400 and people love it.
Person B sees that and "makes a deal for ya", by making a knife for $40, and making it look like the real one. So you buy it thinking it's real when it's not.

Theives.

People that buy fake knives aren't going to buy the real deal. I've had those fakes gifted to me and I just throw them in a drawer. I don't even like looking at them.

Looks reminiscent of a Benchmade Ruckus.

SECTION 5 - Miscellaneous -

As fakes and homage items are a legal gray area and obviously hurt the hobby, no fake or homage items may be sold on the Exchange. Members may not knowingly sell unlicensed knockoffs or counterfeit versions of knives (or any other goods) based upon the designs of their legitimate owner, manufacturer or custom maker. Additionally, members may not sell any knife or item known or suspected to be other than as described in terms of its lineage and authenticity.
