tool restoration day!
found some stuff, "krud kutter" some something like that... you spray it on, or better soak stuff in it... eats the rust... not just converts it to black rust (which is also useful)
worked on a forged screw that's at least 100+ years old, from an old marking gauge - total win from rust trap
had a stanley 220 that i got for $4 that i though was a goner but worth the try. definitely worth it. cleaned up much better than i thought. probably have a bit more to do, esp the flats, but wow. not sure if i'll paint it - if i do, it'll be my signature color

the blade is good now, needs a profiling and a scary sharpening. bam. good.
did some of the grunt work on a Sargent #5 - esp gluing the handle back up into one piece. fixed the frog up, and some hardware, the main work (light) is still left.
and the 78... the blade was the worst, and it's 95%+ now. needs the flats done, and a sharperning. good to go. not bad for $25, missing the main fence, and probably has 2-3 pieces of borged pieces. that's okay, it's a user. i'll just slap a random rod/fence on there later, if i need it. won't even need paint, just the flats.
and that gouge. nice. 95% too. probably want another long soak, and then a buffing, and a sharpening. ready to make spoons and bowls. handle needs oil and a good seating.
then they all need waxing and/or magical rust inhibitor film
good day. nice and mellow.
