Two random thoughts from my day..

1. Old Indian ladies with the red spot on their forehead become scary when they give you the stink eye.

2. I wonder if anyone ever tried lighting a fart with a firesteel?

1. True. Even if they don't have the dots.

2. Probably has been done.....but make a video testing the theory anyway. Ignarts are fun.

0-20 PSI regulator and hose cost $40, 20# bag of satanite refractory clay and 1 sq foot of insboard was about $80 -- everything else was traded for or repurposed scrap.
on the plus side, it weighs half as much as the 10 brick forge Todd made.
as to temp, I won't know until I add the ITC-100 lining (another refractory clay with a 98% IR reflectance) -- I needed to bake the satanite before adding that -- but it made a scrap of steel cherry red today.

sweet!!
I love my little Atlas forge, but wouldn't mind a little more room inside like you've got there.

My computer would not connect to the internet. Been messing with this thing all evening. Came down to my COMODO firewall. Did an uninstall, but it didn't uninstall all of the components. Finally got rid of all of them, and she''s working fine now.

If you do other kinds of ferments, you can also just use the maple sap instead of water. You will probably need a bit less of your sugar source than you would otherwise because of the bit of sugar in the sap. If the sap has gone cloudy, it means there is bacteria in it, so boil it. Bacteria isn't harmful but it will inhibit the yeast activity.

Here's one of several batches of mead I made with maple sap: http://www.bardicbrews.net/2014/04/johns-springtime-traditional-mead/

someone splain to me why Noah (russel crowe) has a modern serrated combat knife on the ark? :D

I didn't pay close enough attention to the top sticky, but as I'm checking in here while watching Noah on netflix, I find it extra amusing.

about 2 hours in, Noah throws his knife down, and the camera stays on it for a bit.

freeze it, and look. those serrations and the spine are pretty clean. that's a combat knife.

god's miracle :D

Pretty much finished my Cam BK2 mod. I wish I had a small piece of straight grained brazilian ironwood, or at least a wood that is similar looking for a firesteel handle.

No brazillian ironwood, closest i got is Madagascar ebony and Caribbean rosewood... Rosewood is only about 1" thick. Ebony about 1.5"

If your interested in a piece PM the size you need and your address!!

1. Yeah, but the dot turns into an extension of the painted on eyebrows and that makes it extra scary. Also, nosehairs.

2. Maybe a Beckerhead ignart competition is in order.

If either of you drink coffee, my parents love to put a little maple syrup in theirs. They wen't through a whole quart in somewhere around a month, and we only had pancakes one time during it.

Coffee should be consumed like I like my women.... Cold and bitter....

Doc

I never drink to get drunk. I just get a decent buzz going. I feel fine.

I bought my fishing license last year, and only went once. It'll cost $32 for my non resident Missouri fishing license, so I better use it, haha. Walleye is some good eating. Blue gill, crappie, bass, and walleye are my favs.

Blue gill, crappie and bass are excellent eating fish... Never had walleye. But catfish is my all time favorite.

I like catfish okay. I actually filet those too. Much easier than putting up with the bones.
