thats awesome ZZ, i love old boys life. we have huge stack of them in our troop room.

and speaking of jobs, just applied for my first one yesterday, fingers crossed. it would be nice to have a little extra money.

Good luck! A first job is a great thing.

If you get it, be sure and let us know what it's like to have extra money. Been so long since I had any that I've forgotten.

The ones I'm reading are from the 1920s time frame. I worked through the 1910s over the last couple of months. They are out on google books. Go to google, click on the apps icon, click on "more" at the bottom of the box, click on books, and search for "boy's life".

One of the things I read about today in the Feb 1920 issue was about "staves". The BSA headquarters sold 2 meter x 1-1/16" ash staves. The recommended use was for making a "spectacle" during a parade, having a ready signal flag for wig-wag signaling, using the staves for emergency stretcher poles, hiking staffs and also mentioned "charging" with them. Charging what and why was not specified. :D:D:D

Scout troops did a whole lot more civic duty stuff in the early days than they do now - I've found references to scout troops patrolling for criminals in Pennsylvania, San Antonio TX troops training with the fire department and being issued Scout Fire Badges, which allowed them to work fire lines, and more stories.

thats awesome! ill definitely have to look those up.

i love scouts, but ive always wished it could go back to the way it once was

My grandpa was born in 1908, so he and my dad were involved in quite alot of the old school Scouts. My grandma and grandpa were both super active in the scouts in leadership and support roles, (well not THE scouts but their scout branches if you know what I mean) My dad has marksmanship badges from scout rifle training. They did serious first aid training too, not like emergency first aid, like dang military medic training. I love listening to some of their Boy Scout tales, although it makes me sad that by the time I was a scout it wasnt quite as cool.

But will it ring the dinner bell?

The dinner bell is a hell of a shot. Ethan and I almost starved to death..:D

Off to the quote thread with you!

I probably have a nice little collection of lines in there by now. I know I should be charging for signature lines at this point.

supposedly a very aggressive oil cutting soap, like orange peel based stuff, or doctor bronners, and then rub in some "minty liquid antacid" that you would ordinarily drink for stomach issues. for good measure, get that in your mouth, and gargle, breath in mouth, breath out nose, and maybe rub some on your eyelids.

other hat tip: for cleanup, wear gloves :D don't touch your junk :D OR SOMEONE ELSES ;) lol.

Well the stuff we have is water-based, I've heard all the tricks but in the end it doesn't make much difference. It's going to suck more than almost anything you've experienced before. But be sure to lean way forward when trying to wash it off so it doesn't run down your body and end up on your junk. Yes that is a real thing that happens.

It's been a little more than 24 hours and as badly as it affected me I'm totally fine now, but our stuff is relatively low potency.

We had some crazy hail too. Took a few photos:

The front sidewalk instantly flooded. You can see the hail splashing in it:

Don't have a garage. All three vehicles dented big time:

This size hail will do some damage:

Storm after it passed:

Sucks, but, could have been much worse.

What Warrior didnt say was that hail was in HIS hand, which means its softball sized hail...lol

Really glad your ok Dubs, that hail looks mean.

How many pairs of bifocals DID you have to look through to see that? :D

Did you finally manage to get it?

It's 168 yds from the bench. Tis a fine (read lucky) shot with a pistol. It has been hit three times. Once by me and twice by my son. Ethan and I got close a bunch of times, but drinking beer and shooting the empties floating in the pond took over. :D

Sorry about the cars. Glad y'all are ok.
Thanks man, appreciate that.

Haha. :D Thanks man. Like I said, sucks, but better than a tornado. My wife's dad recently bought her that little Fiesta. It's brand new.

thank you! im really working forward to it. from what i understand ill be driving around a golf course and i collect balls out of the water and just help with general maintenance. my friend works there and he's the one the told me about the opening, so it would be nice to work with someone i can tolerate :D i'm not sure how much i will be making, but anythings better than i make now (nothing), but after paying for gas i should still have enough left to buy a new toy every once and awhile.

also, got in my new boots today. they are chaco rolands, and they are by far some of the most comfortable shoes i have ever worn
