I'll keep my fingers crossed for you too, WW. I'm picking up the truck tomorrow to start my move. Then I'll be out in NJ the week after, then back to Texas, and then to Washington/Oregon. I'm hitting all 3 coasts in as many weeks.

I will miss you here in CO buddy. Wish I had been able to spend more time with you when I had the chance. Have a great trip. :)

Looks like my Christmas list just got a little bit longer.

I never served in the military, so I never put my mitts on one of those... but I remember reading about them in SOF in the mid/late 80's and going "Dayyummm...."

The engineering and the whole concept behind it sure makes sense on paper. I'd be intrigued to hear from more people who've actually worked with one.

I've never served in the military ;) but I've been lucky enough to put a few rounds through 'em.

my impression; Its heavy. Anything in particular you like to know?

The SAW is ok. Had one during my very first firefight. Went through 4 of those plastic ammo cans in no time. The barrel was screaming hot. A great supplement to aimed fire. A semi auto version is pretty useless. Unless it's for nostalgia, you are better of getting an AR. Come to think of it, I think I still have video of the end of that firefight where we backed off and had apache's level the house. Talk about getting a stiffy! I should have been an apache pilot.
That same firefight it turns out that one of the RPGs they launched got stuck in a palm tree. Had it not, it would have hit my crew.
Side note on useless firearms: I really want one of those Troy pump action AR's. Not sure why. Maybe I just like pumping things.

They're big and heavy, especially with a full belt on. Empty weight is 17lbs so it really is just a range toy, not that it wouldn't be a neat one. Full auto with the 249 is fun though, and the 240 is even more fun. Depending on the price I would be might in a para version.

Save up some money and go rent a couple machine guns sometime, it's an experience. Something belt-fed like a SAW or an M60 and maybe a sub gun like an UZI or MP5.

JT, since you were asking about the farm, I've been getting some pics the past couple of weeks. I'll post a link to an imgur album with a bunch of them in it later.

Pretty good week so far, ordered a Garand from the CMP yesterday, a LT wright camp MUK today and a thrunite archer tomorrow

GSOM, thanks for the 0560 suggestion when I was looking at ZT's. It got here yesterday, put this lanyard on it last night.

Love the bead! You are welcome. I hope you enjoy it. I will admit that I found mine to be a little thick in the edge. Reprofiled to ~35° with my DMT and now it's actually a "slicer". The detent takes a little getting used to, as well (did for me, at least). As we say here in NH, wicked awesome!

isn't that a little short to be a lanyard?

i would suggest something that breaks more easily, so you lose it faster :D

Thanks! I don't mind how thick the edge is, for most really slicey things I have a SAK and a Case on me. It was a bit stiff at first, but it loosened up nice.

If I lose it you have to buy me a new one. :D

well, i warned you it's too short, so it's on you :D

btw, what have you bought me lately?

I've bought you um..

This piece of bellybutton lint. :D

Also, forgot to mention, the bead on the lanyard is just a Lego Stormtrooper helmet with an extra hole drilled through the top. :D
