Two For Tuesday

Thanks. I'm pretty envious of that emerald bushcrafter.... ;) Sure wish I would have had something to trade for it.

Green Over Black! TT! Bocote Duke, Lacewood Bushfinger. Love these guys. More on the Duke later after I get it out in the woods, but so far in the kitchen and backyard it had been pretty sweet.

Man, there are some phenomenal combos up here -- its really cool to see the various configs folks are into!

Terrasaur

Is that terrasaur the one that was on usamade blade recently after the blade show? I watched that one for a few minutes just thinking, I am crazy not to buy this gorgeous knife.

No kidding. What a great set of posts today! I like them all!

Thats it!

Nathan posted a teaser above of his Woodsman with my Duke. Here is my teaser of his K.E. Bushie with my Arete. The Electric Orange Shadetree burlap on his KEB really pops when you see it in person. I am looking forward to doing a compare and contrast review of these two.

I keep coming back and seriously drooling over that Arete. I bet I've looked at that 20 times tonight. I've always wanted some shadetree.

Thanks for compliment Phillip. I have only had this one for a couple of weeks after receiving it in a trade. I am the third owner that I know of. I wanted to replace a nice Arête that I traded recently and this one fits the Shadetree theme to my collection.

Do you still have your Margarita Arête? I remember that one was the first one that made me take a serious look at this model. The Arête has become one of my favorite models.

Kind of... that Margarita Arete was bought for my wife. :D I get to hold it occasionally and would like one for myself someday. I agree - The bushcrafter is still my favorite, but the Arete runs a close second.

Bocote / nat-can / blue trinity pinout combo. The Hunter is 3/16" and the BF is 1/8"; pair 'em with a leatherman and bow saw and you've got all of your bases covered (chopping, slicing, detail work, etc.)!

Nice Pair! Dammit, I've said it again...

Yeah wjt, those are freakin' sweet. I wasn't sold on the Bocote until I got my Duke from Tha Baron....and man-o-man, it is such a nice wood. I really love it.

Thanks guys, I love the stuff myself! Of note, if you plan on using it, wash the handle with some dawn and warm water to remove the paste wax that gets applied at the forge. While it does make the wood look shiny any pretty, it somewhat blocks the natural grain from rising... Which is grippy as heck!! Once cleaned off, the natural Bocote grain rivals burlap in grip. To maintain it, just apply a little hopes tung oil and wipe away.. At 1850+ on the Janka scale, the stuff is plenty and stable and hard, so no real other wax / polish is necessary!
