two legged snake problems in the woods

You mean............your benevolent non-restrictive govt doesn't ALLOW handgun hunting?

.

Nope, they don't, and I never said our government didn't have some stupid restrictions.
But, in the spirit of the holidays, I'm going to apologize for any dicketry or ass-hattery in my posts.
We all agree here that guns and knives are cool; the only argument is over training and fee requirements--a very petty issue compared to the things in common.
Both our countries are very similar in many, MANY ways, and both our governments have their own stupid laws and regulations.
In many ways, this thread has become a "my country's better than your country, nya nya nya!" sort of thing. Silly.
That said, I still like Canada better; that's why I live here.
David E may think he knows me; he doesn't. None of you do. And I don't know any of you either, and none of us are likely to ever meet, so oh well, our opinions of each other are worth precisely nothing.
Personally, I think I've spent too much time on this forum during my time off, and started getting annoyed by the remarks of people I don't know or care about. That was silly, and I apologize for that.
If anyone still has a problem with me, or thinks they can tell how I am, then tough, it's their problem, not mine.

this topic when from a simple thread to WHINE & CHEESE real quick , 11 pages and counting...Geez I will unsubcribe from this thread

Hey Stabman, one thing you should try to avoid doing is getting pissed off by the forums. The quirky thing about writing is that its monotone can be interpreted in many different ways by different people or even the same person under different moods. Some users also tend to write a little more aggressively than others, but I also know from experience with many of my colleagues that this might simply reflect writing style rather than their actual personality or intended communication.

Actually those little Smilies/lexicons do seem to help to some extentv:confused::foot::o

One thing I have found for sure is that this sub-forum - W&S - is full of top notch folks who are for the most part interested in providing sound advice and comparing survival strategies. I also tend to like the humour here. There are actually quite a few seasoned W&S Canuks hanging around this sub-forum so you shouldn't feel too alienated.

Personally I tend to stay away from some of the other sub-forums simply because I get overwhelmed with the very different mind sets than my own and I am more likely to blow my temper there. For me, thats just less fun.

Hope you stay around for more conversations!

Hope you stay around for more conversations!

Yep, I plan to.:)
Just needed a good dinner, a good movie, and getting laid to put things in perspective a bit; after that, the little annoyances which should be ignored seem as trivial as they should.
We all like the outdoors, knives, guns, and probably have other things in common, so yeah, I'll do my part from now on to avoid arguments.

Sounds like some teenaged metalheads bought a copy of the Necronomicon at Barnes & Noble and read it after taking too much acid. I'm familiar with a variety of cultures that use animal sacrifice in their rituals . . . but none of them do anything like that. Sounds like a scene from a Bob Larson novel. ;)

Sir, Your post offends me. Not all metalheads are like that ( I am a metalhead myself). Just because I listen to different types of music does not make me " messed up" Because I listen to music that appeals to me does not make me any more different than you. Suppose you listen to Jazz, I don't care, I don't like Jazz personally but, I am not going to stereotype you. Suppose that you like Country, I am not going to think of you as a Hick. I like country myself, hell I saw Kenny Chesney in concert. I also saw Ozzy Osbourne in concert. Does that make me any different than you? I am not going to critize you becasue you like your music, so please dont stereotype me for mine.

I don't think that's the point he was trying to get across. I've known the people he was talking about. They WERE teenaged, they WERE metalheads, and they WOULD have done something like that. I like heavy metal myself, and happen to be a teenager. That being said, I would never even consider such an act. Not quite a stereotype.

Stabman,

Good on ya! Why didn't you mention getting laid sooner? An excellent idea! My apologies to you as well for any assholitis on my part.

Sodak,

Believe it or not I just had a phone conversation with an old AF buddy of mine with whom I have not spoken in 23 years (STR) and I spoke with his wife a retired O-6 to whom I have owed an apology for all of those years. She got it just now and it made me feel all X-masy again so in that spirit I apologize to you too. If you were one of the good guys thank you for that.

Getting laid is ALWAYS a good idea.:D I should have stopped typing and done it sooner.
No apologies needed; everyone who talks ever has said some things which were a bit hasty.
Hope everyone here has a great remainder to the holiday.:)

<sniff>.................I think I feel a................group hug coming.................

:D :D :D

Two legged problems in the woods? Yes, that is a concern to me. Crack/speedballs and all of the dope that you can name has made its way deep into the Canadian bush. Northern reserves are seeing inner city drug problems ravaging communities. Even if a reserve is isolated and "fly in", the dope is there, and getting worse. Indians in Canada can hunt 24-7/day or night for food gathering which means a rifle anytime, anywhere. I feel less safe in the bush when close to a reserve because of the addicitions/social dysfunction issues that are all too prevelant in those communities. Young kids whacked on dope and running around with guns and no parental supervision concerns me. And don't lay the "racist" label on me, I've lived in these places and know what I'm talking about. Want confirmation? Talk to the R.C.M.P./Nurses or Social Workers that work in those communities. The closer I am to a reserve or city, with their drug problems, the more wary I am of walking up to groups in the local bush (bush parties). And the bush is my backyard around here. I wish harm on no one and use my head to make sure that I come home at night, whether being in the bush or city.

People whacked out on crack or meth ARE a danger, true enough.
I can't speak for areas near reservations, but all the whacked out crack-heads I've encounted in Windsor were white, except for two skinny black dudes.
WAY too much crack in Windsor.:thumbdn:
And yes, you should have SOMETHING for defense, in my opinion, when you go places.
For the woods, a good solid walking stick and a sturdy knife can work fine, if you're not wandering around with a 12 gauge(most people don't want to argue with a 12 gauge).
Maybe a good vest with a trauma plate if you're worried about drugged-up kids with guns in your region; still legal to own here, and WHATEVER your defensive tool is, stopping the round from hitting your heart helps alot.

Sorry to hear that.............what steps, if any, do you take in response?

thanks !

I think we're a gonna have us a metal head problem here.

*runs to turn up country music*

I think you guys took tyr_shadowblade's response too literal. To think literal and liberal are almost spelled the same ;). J/K
