two legged snake problems in the woods

All you understand is your distorted opinion of me, a person you've never met.

If you're posting honestly, then I DO "get" you..........sadly......

You think to trap me into saying I'd go illegal to satisfy having you think I'm more realistic?

Trap you ? No, I'm sure you'd never buy an illegal gun, contrary to your post. You'd still have your knives and baseball bats, after all, so you'd think you're still "good to go."

I don't think you get Canada, or Canadians, at all.

Yeah, I do. That's why I'll never, ever live there !!! :D :D :D

.

How's about we just not get all into the whole Canada vs. U.S. thing....I've already made my piece offering - Mr. Noodles found himself a nice American wife from Minnesota and the kids are duel citizens :)

I just had a great vacation with family in Boston, Americans are great, and Canadians are great.

Iqaluit - Cool (pun). I want to get up there sometime. I actually collaborate with some scientists there!

How many folks prefer to keep their handgun concealed in the woods, if the concern is mainly about the "2 legged snakes?"

.

Then you had some really shitty NCOs, I would have told you to get your ass back in your office.

Officers don't earn the joe's respect by working hard, joe don't give a shit, he will watch you do his work and then laugh about it.

Officers earn their Soldier's respect by taking care of them and making the right decisions, that's why Officers make the big bucks. Chris

Well one thing's for sure, I don't need for you to tell me what makes a good officer, nor a good NCO. You wouldn't have told me anything like that more than once, that's for sure. I spent most of my time in the field, not in an office.

I did what I did because it was the right thing to do, I don't give a shit about your opinion either.

That 21 foot rule is based off of drawing your gun from a holster.

And for just standing still while the person with the knife charges you and stabs you. Standing still while someone threatens you with bodily harm is a bad idea.

Movement is your friend, even if you're as slow as I am. Even a couple of steps can help give you enough of the gap in space and time to react, draw, and effectively use your sidearm to deal with a threat.

:D

I won't try to kid anyone that I spend much time in the woods ... but sometimes you can't avoid it.

If I concealed while in the woods, it would be primarily to protect my weapon from the environment as I don't have a good holster that offers that kind of protection (like a full flap or maybe a Wilderness SafePacker).

tyr shadowblade,

US gun laws don't apply in Canada. There a 14 inch factory made barrel is treated like any other shotgun barrel. I can't cite their statutes but a search of their websites will show them for sale.

Here in Brazil we have greater liberty in this regard as well. It is perfectly legal to put a shoulder stock on a pistol or have a shotgun with a 10 inch barrel as long as it was made that way. Rossi makes 10 inch single shot shotgun pistols in .410 and 28 ga. They used to sell a 14 inch double 12 ga here but it has been off the market for some time. Mac

Sodak,
I am just curious, how long were you in and when, maybe we have crossed paths. Chris

Come on angle iron, I am sure when Sodak was a young Lt he had SGMs in the front leaning rest and 1SGs fetching his coffee.

I am very sure if he was one of my Lts he would ruckmarch all the way from his field site to my office and set my crusty 1SG's butt straight. ;):D Chris

Doubtful. I was serving in the early 80's. If you have 15 years, then you were then in grade school. I'm not taking this off topic any more sorry to the OP.

I thought the same thing - in reverse.

I found this on a hike about 7 miles from my backdoor, last year it had alot of things going on a spooky vibe, the smell of serious chemicals and best of all a couple of shabby guys sitting on the other side of it, carrying on and looking spun out of there heads. It was dumb luck I came up to it on the side I did popping out of the bush and there it was. Now this time I only had my camera, common sense, manix and good will toward man, so I count my blessings for being sneaky. ;)

If OP means original poster then I am he and please feel free to go OT especially if you are going to tell us about what a great officer you were. I was an army brat for all of the sixties and seventies and active duty in the early eighties so I have met quite a few officers (when I was a brat we lived in OQ and I delivered Stars and Stripes to BOQ, Officer's family housing areas as well as senior enlisted and lower enlisted. While there were certainly exceptions (notable for their rarity) my enlisted customers were much nicer people and much better tippers as well. So I would love to hear about "good" officers, I've met so few.

To save you the trouble of blathering about my prejudice against officers, my father was one and I am currently and will forever wear a KIA bracelet in memory of a friend of mine (O-5) who was killed at the pentagon. I went to college too and chose to enlist because...

I wanted to work for a living.

I have 17 years of active service, I graduated High School in 85 so your right we did not serve together. I am sure you were a very good officer and we would have worked fine together. This conversation is a bit like discussing who would beat who between Ali and Tyson in their prime, so I will leave it to go back on topic. Chris
