A tiny little snag is that if you happen to lose 100%, that means no more Tyrant Katana 😭
Not quite true, it means no more Tyrant katana for you.

For the rest of us...

I am not a super fan of space coral FatCarbon to be honest, so a micarta option for a bit less might be nice. Huntsman Knife Co. LLC. Huntsman Knife Co. LLC. , what are you thinking about the wood saya you mentioned?

I’ll have to think through funds, and what I can hide from the wife, but I’m certainly interested.

Couple of thoughts:
- If it’s a real-ass sword, the guard should be big enough to provide some protection to the hand, not just to stop the hand running up on the blade.
- Do you think you’ll be able to estimate the balance point from the renderings?

We've going to mock up a few different sizes for the guard. The one in the drawing is 2.5inches. I think 3 inches in diameter is probably the sweet spot where its consistent with historical models and gives good protection while not taking up too much space.

Yes we can calculate center of gravity.

I'll see what I can get ordered for Micarta and non-carbon fiber options. This has all been great feedback.

For the Saya, I'm going to have to experiement. This blade will not have a habaki so we will need a different way to secure the sword in the saya. Once I have a good mechanism, Ill work with a local wood shop and get them CNC prototyped and then have a run produced. Planning on doing a nice lacquered finish for a traditional but functional look.

Personally I think the space coral carbon fiber would be awesome and I would go for it in either blade. The Tyrant Bowie gold carbon fiber is excellent in hand and visually. That being said, a Bush Waki is an easy choice whereas I'd want to see renderings and convince myself of many, many things to get the Tyrant Katana (which ended up getting my vote anyways).

Can you give some more details about the handle construction for the Bush Waki? Will it be similar to the Tyrant Katana?
Planning a standard handle for now (knife scale style) to keep costs down + maybe an optional pommel counterweight.

Doing the full coffin handle with guard and pommel adds about $400 in cost + drastically increases the amount of work. I wouldnt be able to even come close to offering the full coffin handle for $850.

If the weight is roughly the same as the Fell Beast, and even if it’s 30-50 percent heavier, it’s still extremely light for a two-handed grip, so I don’t think there’s much need for a coffin -shaped handle 🤔.
With this big guy, despite its extremely light weight, the heft is felt right at the end of the "striking part."
I’ve checked and tested it for you guys 😎.
From my perspective, maybe no one will agree,
but the Bush Waki is like an evolution of the Fell Beast into a two-handed sword, you know, like a skill tree in games where you upgrade to the next level with a bigger, more damaging sword.

Awesome!!! Simple, but really good value. However, I wouldn’t mind paying $400 more for the extra handle features. Might be an upgraded option called the Tyrant Waki.

You know, that might be the move. I could use the same guard and pommel for the Katana..... only the handle slabs would have to be different.....

Only question about carbon fiber:
I remember on road racing motorcycles they made a carbon fiber seat pan.
It sat on top of battery. It caught on fire and was smoldering mid race which hindered riders performance.
Is this a factor in this handle material ?

I think the battery shorting out to the seat pan was the problem. With proper insulation and care could have been prevented.

Probably not an issue.
I would prefer something else on a sword this durable.
Swords worked well with wood and cord wrapped handles for centuries.

I'm assuming that this might be a risk, if you happen to rig up a battery powered electric blade that shoots out plasma bolts for your Tyrant Katana. Who doesn't need a electrified katana like so?

I'm marketing it as a feature that this sword can also double as a fire starter through spontaneous combustion. 🤣
