Ugliest knife?

Im not partial to Spyderco's knives, but don't get me wrong I liek the Civilian, and Police model other then those I think spyderco's knives are the ugliest IMHO:barf:

I know alot of you guys love Spyderco, and I'm not bashing their materials or manufacture because I do not own one but I just don't like their looks.

Personally I think that Frost has cornered the market on ugly knives.

But just think, you can buy them at "deeeeeler prices" at QVC and they are all from "surgical stainless steel." :)

My vote for ugliest is the SOG Blink - but I think the Warthog is an excellent choice for top-ugly award.

spyderco kiwi!!

call me crazy, but I can't STAND jigged-bone handles, yuck!

Personally, I think the Spyderco Wegner is an ugly knife. The blade looks like a pelican's beak to me. I used to just look at 'em and laugh... until I used one! The beauty in that knife is in it's use. It was built to function and it does. I think a lot of people missed out on this great knife because of it's looks.

Now, I don't really judge a knife by it's looks FIRST. I take it's looks into account with materials, function, quality of construction, etc. and then form an opinion. That's why I give knives a chance even if they don't appeal to me initially. So watch out guys, you could miss out on a great one!

Someone already mentioned it, but (my) Cold Steel Vaquero Grande is one butt-ugly knife...But "ugly" in a "good way".:).

Also, my Spyderco serrated Massad Ayoob looks pretty "ugly".:D.

Ugly in a good way, Glockman? Do you mean like actress, Minnie Driver? :o

Sebenzas strike me as boring as hell, but not ugly. They're almost there though.

I agree with all opinions on the cosmetics of Sebenzas...I checked them out some time ago when I heard how great they are functionally...sooo plain :-/. If I'm gonna spend $300+ on a knife, I really need it to be totally kick ass.:)

My prob with Spyderco's is that most of them follow the exact same design principle...that's why I was so excited when I discovered the Chinook (a good looking knife, IMO);)

Warthog

I'm probably one of the biggest pushers of Spyderco knives, been using them for 3yrs, and can quote most of the models and stats without cracking a book.

The only models I've seen that actually looked nice from them, are the Calypso(Micarta Sr, FRN/Micarta/SS Jr) line and the Dragonfly SS. The lines actaully flow on these ones.

The rest are ugly, but they work. Just like Buckley's... The heavily triangle-influenced blade may not look pretty, but it works damn well.

also, for ugly knives... the sebenza(no curves on it), CRKT Mo'skeeter(rip-off of the FRN native from Spyderco), cold steel(god damn "serrations")...

I think you formite(s) forgot to mention ANY CHICOM "knock off" ( or even their "original" design(s):()
And the sad part is, and I believe it's for the want of acquiring a knife ( even if it's a "cheapo") that people buy them. As for Spyderco's, I say "to each his/her own" I LOVE my SE "cricket" and carry it regardless of someone's "two cents worth";)

AET ( ATE on the Spyderco "home" forum ;))

Take your pick from the spyderco line-up. Spydercos are so ugly they're kinda cute.

My SOG Pentagon II is pretty ugly(oxymoron), but in reference to my knife ugly=dangerous.

Ugliest:

Anything that says "Hibben"
Hartsfield
Opinel
Knuckle knife used by the bad guy in "Cobra"
Laser cut Pumas without brass guards
United Cutlery "Whittlin' Jack"

I'm suprised nobody has mentioned it, but the Spyderco Jot Singh Khalsa (the one eith the hump on the blade) usually comes up in the most ugliest category. I've got to disagree though, it's probably one of my favourite blades.

Jot Singh Khalsa, that's a real ugly one.

Reminds me of another terribly ugly knife, the Cold Steel Scimitar. Disgusting plastic handle. The ball at the end of the handle is just plain nasty, it looks like the bells on a jester's hat.

The new Emerson Hard Wear knives.

They have "Aqua Tread" designed handles....

Spydies and Emersons. Have owned a bunch of both and upon receiving them immediately counted them as trading fodder (except for the Temperence and the Raven). Emersons are square, chunky and don't like chisel ground blades, especially tanto's. And Spydies, what else is there to say, except they're ugly! Now, cosmetics aside, they are both great user knives, ugly=functionality.

Ok, I'll admit some Emersons are plug ugly, as I said, further up the page, but the Commander?? I think that this is one of the best looking folders of all time. Such sensuous curves!!

Looks so good, I could .... well, I'd better not say:rolleyes:

I can't stand the Spyderco Civilian. I'm sure its a great knife since it IS a Spyderco, but in my opinion it is DAMN ugly.

OK, I notice a trend: many people seem to dislike the looks of Spyderco knives although I´m sure most people would agree that they´re very functional knives.

NFMee,
yup, I too think the Kiwi is very ugly.

The Shabaria just came to my mind. I normally really like recurves, but this one is an ugly exception IMO.

Yup.... some spydercos are ugly as sin.
However I like my Merlin (somehow the looks of the blade is cool) and I love my Chinook (The lines on this baby flows).
