Ugliest Strider Ever?

You can find knives just as strange on Laci Szabo's website, but Strider tends to attract more negative opinions.

It is funny when people lose track of the essential difference between fantasy knives and the straight-forward designs better suited to real world applications.

Still, I don't know why anyone would call the Tiger ugly.

I always have trouble with that move, using an ordinary knife. Where can I got one of these Tigers, just for the possibility of, well, you know.

If I told you, I would have no choice but to perform that exact maneuver on your spine.

I can't speak for the designer but I cna see this as used for chopping? I don't happen to like this design, but Im sure its still sharp where its suppose to me, lol...Are the serratiosn on the back working serrations? Aslo is that a finger choil on the front or just part of the design? Ican't get an idea in my mind of the size....

It is pretty small.

I don't know about that. The only thing that resembles that on the Szabo sight is...the Strider/Szabo UUK "from the film VAULT." Its a movie knife. Anthing else weird is explained pretty well.

Hi Mike,

It was, if I remember the story correctly, made at the request of a video game maker for killing zombies in one of their games.

Here's mine.

It's an interesting knife. I'm glad I have one. No, I don't think is ugly.

Could you post a picture of it in your hand? Might make it a little less wierd cause of size comparison.

I am waiting for the guy who always comes in with a line about how it has a special purpose and any real operator would instinctively know what it was.

One guy stated that it was for stabbing through the back and hooking/severing the spine :D

bebebebabababaababahaahahahaahahahaahaaaaaaaaaaa:D

anywho

Spine hook huh?

it looks a bit like a WSK on Gama rays to me :D if remeber correctly its the price thats the joke

"I think the knife was actually designed for a video game."

No, it wasn't, and it's amazing how that rumor persists, or it is the same guy posting this in every Tiger thread I see.

The Tiger has a specific one-use design that has nothing to do with Hollywood or video games. You should call them and ask. I'd have you PM me but I don't have that level of membership.

At any rate, if you already knew what it was for you might have a 'need' for one, and if you don't know- then you don't need one.

This is completely incorrect. The Tiger is designed in fact to avoid making that cut, which makes a lot of noise and results in a slow slow struggling demise. It's amazing how many so-called knife people know so little about their combat use, yet they like to go on as though they do. No wonder so few actual operators participate in these discussions!

:(

From a previous thread about the knife. . .

Its history contradicts you. The UUK and its variants have been around long before that particular Strider version, which may have been made for the film.

Yeah its a silly knife.... yes any maker can make a silly knife. Most do eventually.

There is more than one way to be a fan boy. Bum rushing a maker over and over again because its fashionable on this forum to do so...

100 percent fan boy behavior as well.

Think for yourself. If you like it, buy it.

If you don't, then don't.

Why is the Tiger's use such a secret? Is it the kind of deal where if they told you they would have to kill you?

Heres my theory: It is a specifically designed blade for taking out a special kind of aliens reproductive gland. These aliens will multiply in combat by "cloning". With this gland ripped out, not only are they extremely demoralized, but they lose their sense of manhood which gives our military a fighting chance against them.

So it does in fact have a very practical use.

Hi TCBA Joe,

Maybe this pic will give some idea of the Tiger's size.

I bought the Tiger because I didn't have a fantasy knife, I like many of the Strider designs, and I could afford it.

It's made of S30V. It is sharp enough to easily shave my arm hairs. It feels better in the hand than you would think. At least it's not boring. :D

AFAIK, I've read that Busse model is a military overrun, and in a flame war thread, it was stated that the Strider was first made as a special design for some military something, THEN used in a video game, and then mass produced.
