Ugly Knives

Since you've edited the title of the thread from mall ninja to ugly knives... that squid sculpture is gorgeous. Lousy knife to try to use, I'm sure, but incredible work of art. I'd love to have it on display.

jesus christ, this guy can't win lol

Now these is ugly.

Beauty's in the eye of the beholder. I like the mini-cleaver, looks like the 3rd knife down. I'd put a darker stain on the handle, grind some of the belly out, scothbrite the blade to near satin, then (maybe, maybe not, depending on how it turned out) put my own patina on it.

I gotta agree -- they don't look sophisticated, have fine lines or symmetrical, proportions, but they're intriguing. Where are they from?

a couple things i've noticed...

i see nothing wrong with a new user that posts frequently, yet it seems several of you do. that kind of thinking leads to forums dying... no need to yell at him for posting threads, just gently guide him in the right direction

another thing. Mall ninja's are to the Knife Community as Ricers are to the Car community. I'm a member of a car club, forums etc, and the same arguments are had there as here. The only difference are the toys being defined. Like with the car community, mall ninjas are what makes it hard for true knife enthusiasts to exist. they are the reason there might be more unreasonable fear associated with knives than needed, and part of the reason litigation AGAINST knives are passed. if you substitute knives for the word cars, you'd have the car community's problem. i'd go so far as to say that every single hobby has its wacko end of the enthusiast spectrum... so it is fair to say that if we as knife people separate ourselves from them, its doing the knife community a favor. that doesn't mean we shouldn't try to educate them on what we believe to be the proper use and quality of knives, just that we shouldn't define ourselves by what fools with "tactical" weapons try to do

also. you all need to realize that what is posted is ugly to the person who posted it. those who flame a post for being beautiful to you, get off your high horse. obviously he didn't like it and he has the god given right to that belief. its annoying to hear and see fan boys of any type for any brand sit there and try to defend some wrong done to their company. i've read most of the threads that have been posted since i joined, and a few that existed long before my membership.... all have that common element. multiple threads have died because they get off topic and bitch about stupid semantics regarding various brands whether it be spyderco, kershaw, crk, cs, sog, etc. its ridiculous

Here are some mainstream screw ups although usefull kinda harsh on the eyes.

I totally agree...I think spyderco's are ugly! And I find the spydie hole worthless.

Really? Worthless? If it wasn't there how would you open the knife without wrist flicking it every time? Even though it's just your opinion, I'm curious as to how the Spyderhole worthless?

These guys are so silly.
