UK Penknife: A Hole in one!

Only 500 have been produced (to date) and only collectors #'ed examples are being sold in the US (200). Only unassigned #'ers are going to dealers.

DROOOOOL
Sal, I cannot wait 'til all is sorted with EB and this turns up on our shores :D
I am SO jealous that you've got one Carlos.
Not been hanging around BF much lately-is there that much interest in this in the US? I ask because NewGraham are sold out already.
I think this may be the single most exciting thing to happen for UK knifenuts in , well, forever.

Hi yog, General, etc. from 999 ;)

This one is going to be a killer !!!
We are reaching p e r f e c t i on here !!!

Cheers
JM

Well, I received my package from New Graham this afternoon.
(Let me preface this by saying that I was stunned to see the C94GP offered on their webste. I had no idea this design would be available stateside and had been thinking about ordering a grey Calypso Jr.)
This slipjoint is a great execution of a pleasing design.
The blade shape is agood choice for everyday utility.
The flat grind and sharp tip will be great for slicing fruit, whittling on the trail, and getting out splinters.
It clearly appears to have bushings which aid in wear and tear and smoothness of the action. I like the low-ride subdued finish wireclip, and if you don't it is removeable.
There is a half stop, but I don't find it to be jarring when opening and closing.
The materials lend themselves to a solid, but not "heavy" feel.
I have to smile when I remember when I first went to close this knife today.
My hand "stuttered" when finger reflexively slid along the spine as it searched for the lock... that simply was not there!
This will be a welcome EDC knife for me.
Thanks again Spyderco!

I can't find it on the website! can you please post a link? :)

thanks

The big brown truck dropped off my Spyderco UK Penknife last Friday. I managed to get a serialized #15 plain edge! It's one sweet knife, the action is smooth, it opens easily, sweep closing the knife works great as week. Plus, the deep carry wire clip looks great and the S30V blade is razor sharp, nice blade shape too. Well done Spyderco!

Thanks!

It's already out... sort of. :)

I already owned one(great knife), but I sold it to a friend of mine.

The para is not tip up/down also doesn't have that low profile pocket clip position.

The C94 has been my EDC for the past two weeks. My wife has carried hers in the past two weeks more often than I have seen her carry any knife in all the years I have known her. So far it has opened letters, boxes, bags of snacks for the kids, peeled apples. The real shining point was when my 3 year old son got a splinter at the playground, and it was removed painlessly with the C94's sharp tip. The look in my son's eyes was great.
The knife is going to be loved by those surrounded by sheeple. This cutter rides the pocket well, opens quick, does the job, is closed and back in the pocket faster than any other knife I have ever had. All with one hand use.
A little detail that I like about it's construction: the choil is the kick.
The entire concave choil nests onto a convex curved portion of the backspring when the knife is closed.
Does the Pride do that too?

Great job Spyderco!

P.S.: I know there's gonna be somebody who wants to know if it will cut through a car fender and still shave, or can somebody do pullups on it after driving it into a log. Sorry, I won't be trying that.

Excellent post! :)

This is exactly what the UK Penknife was designed for, an unarguably legal carry almost anywhere, inoffensive to the easily alarmed, made from good materials by an excellent company.

For those who don't know, Sal sat through a 1,000 post thread full of suggestions for the new design, sifted some of the better ideas from the thread and put them in front of his design team. A few of the important points that came out of the thread were that we all wanted good blade steel, the knife to be made in Golden rather than Seki and the slipjoint had to be stiffer than usual to resist accidental closure.

Full marks to Sal for listening to a bunch of customers, potential customers and very hard to please knife lovers in the UK ;)

Now please everyone buy one or two so that Sal will listen to us again the next time he wants to release something unusual onto the market.

Roger

Sal,

Based on the design, pics, and posts I have read the UK Pen Knife seems like the perfect EDC. I wanted to purchase one but New Graham has sold out.
I have a question, would it be possible to do U.S. version of the same design except incorporating the ball bearing lock? One of things that makes the Dodo a pleasure to carry are the unobtrusive clip and the linerless construction. When I look at pics of the pen knife I can't help but envision this combination. I imagine the design would have to be re-engineered to some degree, but if it were possible I will buy several. Even if you decide to produce more of the slip joint versions I will buy one.

P.S. A lock back would suffice also, but I like the ball bearing lock for novelty and the MBC rating.

OT: Roger Gregory, I like your signature link. Looks like some neat stuff and resources. PMC sounds like a lot of fun.
