(date stamp on last one is wrong...unless the cold caused time travel;))

The Junglas is my main "Bash my way through the woods" knife.
I consider it a northern climate machete.
Last trip out I ended chopping into wood which had some barbed wire grown into it; it dinged the edge a bit, but after some Sharpmaker action it's back ready for more.

the thing with Bussekin is they have Jerry's warranty. if you break it, and we weren't actually TRYING to break it, they will give you another one.

There's no "abuse" exception. The only abuse that busse lover's won't tolerate is NOT using your knives, and that's just downright cruel

im not quite sure I understand. I am a newb to the fixedblade market :p what is "bussekin"? some sort of sub brand like byrd and spyderco ?
and who is jerry?:p

and how do they perform ? :p

like an Olympic gymnast on crack

Go to Youtube, and search Battle Mistress Destruction Test. There's nothing like INFI... there are no substitutes

They make something for everyone, so if you genuinely want "the best" it's Busse. There are LOTS of alternatives, but they will never be "the best"

Bussekin is anything made by Busse Combat, Scrapyard Knives, or Swamprat Knife Works

They are all owned by Jerry Busse, and all carry his warranty

Busse, Swamp Rat, Scrapyard.
Three related companies, all of which churn out tough knives.

That's debatable.
They make good knives, but best? That category is up for grabs and is a many ways tie.;)

tyvm for all the feedback! A lot of knives and brands to check out!
but it wont be until november-december I buy it!

I'd get a custom or an ESEE. If you break an ESEE doing.. whatever you may be doing, it'll be replaced. Of course, unless you are misusing it, it will most likely not break in the first place. If you go for a custom, the makers will make them just how you want it.

Or if you are on the cheaper end Condor has a great knife as well, and great customer service to back it up. Same can be said for the Becker line.

Condor has some knives in the 10 inch blade range you might want to check out as well.
They're plenty tough, and for $500 you could buy most of them.:)
Instead of one knife, you could have 5 knives, 2 axes, and 3 machetes.

could you post the link of the video ?
i typed it in in youtube, but I doubt the video you mean appears in the result, mainly carlsberg commercials:p

Get a Busse, seriously.
Best fixed blades out there, hands down.
I say Ratmandu or Rodent 9.
Seem to stay under $300 and are the best looking ones(IMO) because they have no fancy specific look to them. They are built to be used and look that way.

That is still a matter of opinion.
The steel is not magical.
It is not forged in the fires of Mount Doom.
It is steel, a good steel, heat treated quite well, and with a good warranty.
Nothing more, nothing less.
Edge retention is okay.
Stain resistance is alright.
Toughness is rarther tough.

There are tougher steels.
There are steels with far better edge retention.

Right, but he wants about a 10 inch blade.
Most machetes don't fit in a pack very well.;)

Condor 12" Bolo would fit the bill. :)

I can stuff my Baryonyx Machete prototype in my pack no problem and it has a 16" blade and a 7" handle.
