Ultimate production woods folder?

I've evolved into the Forrester. When I lost my Boy Scout knife sometime in the late 60s I picked up the Victorinox Spartan. It was so close to the knife I carried for 10 years, it just was a natural.

Then I lost the Spartan, I couldn't wait to find another so I bought the closest thing too it. It was the Vic Climber pictured below. I still have this knife, the only difference between it and the Spartan are the scissors, though I carried it for a few years before I actually started using the scissors. I lost this one a couple of times but it always found it's way back to me. I finally got so nervous about loosing this long time friend I retired it after 27 years of EDC. I put the bone scales on it in the early 80s.

I continued to carry a new climber up until this year when I decided on the lock blade and the saw over the scissors, scissors are nice but I just don't use them all that much. I replaced the scales on it too.

Ironically, when my Dad passed in 1983 I found my old Boy Scout Knife in his jewelry box, I guess I must have left it laying around where it shouldn't have been.

Or a 110 if you prefer a longer blade.

Either can perform just as well if not better than any already mentioned.

Matter of preference really.

Carl-

Think the Buck 110 has served "infinity plus one" outdoorsmen over the years. Heavy, but always delivers. My pocket always has a Schrade 8OT, but if I'm thinking ahead, the 110 goes on the belt.

Vic Swiss Tool X is my woods folder.

If I were to go straight up folder I'd say a Buck 110 too. They've been proven reliable and don't have anything you can lose like a pivot screw.

Folder for belt carry,I'd choose the Buck 110.Folder for pocket carry,a Vic SAK of some type. That said,I'm never without a fixed blade in the woods. Also,I'm never without a Vic SAK in my pocket, the model selection varies.

Surprisingly I see no suggestion for the BM rukus or mini-rukus, I have the mini and IMO its the best outdoor folder you can get. It out performs every other locking folder in my collection for outdoor use. IIRC its what it was made for.

Victorinox SwissTool and Spyderco Endura.

I don't own one, but I'd be willing to bet the Benchmade Rukus would make an awesome outdoor folder.

I just realized the A-100 is a right hand deploy only. What kind of BS is that?? It might be possible to deploy lefty, but it's definitely designed for right hand only deployment.

SAK farmer, for its size the saw on them really comes in handy! for a single blade an opinel, reliable and take a good edge.

Other suggestions? I'm looking for straight functionality so "pretty" handle materials aren't for me.

Thanks in advance...

IMO the Fallniven TK series is hard to beat, with great egde retention from the 3G steel

Personaly I use the TK3 (on the right hand side of this pic)

Since your not interested in "pretty handles" the TK4 is worth a look :thumbup: . BTW for what it's worth, I've seen Ray Mears use this folder as his bushcraft folder :D

I think a pre China 110 is about as good a folding knife there ever was.
I'd be willing to bet that that knife has cleaned more game and been carried in the woods more than any other.
Too bad Jr. doesn't have grandpas vision.

I am A fan of the Sak Farmer and Leatherman Wave for multi tools.

For single blade folders I like My Spyderco Manix, and BM Griptillian.

On my list for my next two folders are the BM Deja vu and Doug ritter RSK 1 Griptillian.
