Ultimate Survival Knife - The Blackbird

Looks quite nice and practical. Has a modern Kephart look to it.
Kinda put me off a little when I heard it was stainless but 154CM is a good stainless and I guess quite a few people want a maintenance free blade !

I agree, but it is often hard to invent something along the line of knives that hasn't been done.

Anyhow I watched the whole long winded video about the knife and it sounded Decent at best, but then he said the price and I said NO WAY.

I could buy a custom knife for that price made by hand by someone in the USA , with a very nice sheath and a nicer fit and finish.

For a second, I thought we were going to see a modern version of the original Ontario PSK - I was excited about that as I have awesome memories as a kid with that knife.

I was thinking the same thing, I don't really care as much for the new ASEK version...though I have one and see some improvements in blade geometry over the old style. I was thinking man if they've made a full tang version of the PSK or one just one similar to it with a better grind I'm getting one. As it is I wish the guy luck but I really don't see myself getting one. Ontario already makes some other designs I like much better, Like the Ranger RD in 5160 I have been looking at lately at half the price.

I watched the vid and just a couple thoughts.

First I had one of the Camillus PSK's that I modified and used for years, eventualy passing it along. I think it is a better survival knife than what he has come up with.

But then I have never been impressed with the Kephart design.

In fact, that's why had to pass on Lone Wolf barrels....otherwise great barrels.

FYI they offer the option of "blind marking". only problem is it's $15 more than the normal markings.

Some of our customers prefer their barrels or slides to be a little more discreet or plain looking, lacking any visible markings. Lone Wolf Distributors can accommodate these customers by offering custom laser engraved "blind marking" as an option.

After much research, I have a hard time with Adam from Equip2Endure hyping his sheaths and knife. I have found a half a dozen sheath makers that make equal quality knives AND more importantly, sheaths that are just as good, but half the price...
LEATHER

Kydex

Sorry Paul, I'm not paying "artist prices"
I was custom finish journeyman carpenter for 25+ yrs. I kmow what materials and labor can cost...
Hedgehog is a RIPP-OFF!

Hedgehog is a RIPP-OFF!

BS. A rip-off is if he delivered shoddy work or didn't deliver at all. Paul can charge whatever he pleases and people can buy or not. His work speaks for itself. Saying that he's ripping anyone off is ridiculous and nothing short of trolling. Especially when you dig up an old thread just to do it.

Got your message, but I am just trying to bring a good deal to guys like me through my extensive research. Of course I'm going to upset fans of this guy, but it is what it is. I'm on many other forums , and they apreciate good deals. It is JUST MY OPINION, TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT!
As a fellow artist and MASTER Craftman, I feel I can say what I want...I have designed and worked on multi million dollar homes for many people and celeberties. I know good work when I see it. Paul does OUTSTANDING work. I'm just saying you are paying for "artist" prices intead of solid cratman prices. There is a difference. I have charged many different prices for the same work over my life. BUT for guys in my "BIZ" I charge differently. I feel Paul is over charging, ....to prove my piont, Paul started charging $189.00 for his sheaths...NOW they are $117.00...Does that tell you anything??
I never said he did shoddy work...I said he was over priced...
Everyone nowadays thinks there work is some kind of Masterpiece worth hundreds of dollars.
Just like YOU GUYS have said in other posts regarding his BK5 Blackbird knife...it's not special , nor worth it.
Im not trolling, nor ***** with anyone, just saying what is up.

Thought you guys would be grateful.
Other guys on other forums thanked me for the time I took to research a different and cheaper option.
If you want to pay out the *** for a similar product, go ahead.

First off you need to watch your language, this is a family forum.
Second, you arent going to get or pass on a "great" deal by acting like a jerk.

Auction / Deal / Bargain Spotting

This is a variation of the "no spam" rules that we have. We know you found a great deal on a Ninja Death Tool 3000 - we don't care.
