Um, Snark?

So I went out on the property of my apartment complex this morning to try a bowdrill. There was a limb that was sitting out by the dumpster so I cut a few pieces for my set but it was a hardwood so I was pretty dubious right off the bat. I spent probably 45 minutes trying to get the drill carved and I was maybe half way there at best. I figured with as hard as it was I was going to have a pretty tough time getting an ember if I ever did get the set finished so I gave up. I'll give it another try at some point soon.

It takes a while to get set up, that's for sure! Maybe you'll have another chance soon.

I'll probably go up to my knife testing spot and give it another try before the month is over. More wood to choose from and I won't be disturbing anyone. But it's like an hour drive or so to get there.

I kid you not, my buddy and I drove around on our bikes, through the damn local forest, in pitch dark till 2am catching pokemon... You can't say that stuff to too many people...

Best thing I've read on the internet today. I now have to get this game.

Pokemon? What a bunch of nerds. Now excuse me while I go watch Firefly for the 80th time and lament it's early demise.

Pokemon Go is a gift to the Internet. I foresee enjoying seeing pictures of Pokemon in precarious positions as well as hearing about the antics of those out catching them.

apparently there's a pokemon out by our pond, but SWMBO found 3 on the living room couch so she figures she's good for the day without that one.

Not sure how Pokemon Go works and if you can sign up through anything other than gmail, but just figured I'd give you guys a warning, it has access to your gmail account for some reason, so if you use it for anything that could potentially be "sensitive" you may want to change it (if possible?).

This guy explains it better than I can.

Wow. Facebook. Pokemon. BF pokemon. Wife and kids pokemon... I can't escape it. They actually drove to town this morning to look for these things.

There is 1 game on my phone. Hill climb racing. I only play it when waiting on an appointment or something like that. There won't be another game until they have one that pays me to play.

so this weekend we helped SWMBO's cousin move.
he specifically said he needed me to come help with the heavy stuff.
(yes, it was a trap)

so we get there any he's talking about taking the shed apart to move it -- it's a 4x7 plastic job lag screwed to a 5.5' x 8' deck/platform sitting on 4 cement blocks.
so I asked him - "you got other guys coming, right?"
"yeah?"
"OK, we can pick it up and put it in a pickup bed and use a pair of dollys to move it into the new yard"

it looked pretty cool rolling down the road, but it totally sucked loading it into the truck.....

I imagine that a 30-06 ought to do the trick. Screw catching them.

What's the freaking deal with this Pokemon thing? One of my good friends downloaded this game. Wtf? He's line 40 something and playing Pokemon.

Hahahahaha I love my nerdy out door friends !
<3

Haha! Man, Firefly is the best.

I really don't think that people should put an age limits on playing games and having fun. Plus, if it gets people outside, heck yes! I work at a university and there are so many students walking around getting vitamin D playing :)

Meh. I'm over 30 and waste a lot of time playing Fallout 4 and GTA V. Whatever. At least with Pokemon Go people are going outside and accidentally solving crimes and stuff.

This is both awesome and slightly, ah...of concern to me. But hellyeah, bikes and outdoors time!

Seriously, what's not to love? Knife knerds....sounds good to me.

It is kinda funny seeing people standing outside with their phones and just staring at something I can't see. I don't have any idea really what this is about, but....at least it's outside and people seem to be enjoying it - outside. Last time I saw something like this I was parked at an intersection (engine off) not moving as the July 4th traffic from the fireworks made its way out of town....I was watching a couple look at their phones, then talk, then point at their phones, then point in one direction, then another, then more phone consultations.....finally I asked them what they were trying to find/if they needed help (or some such) and they said "Where is Marcy Street / where are we?" and I kinda leaned out the window and pointed at the street sign that was above their heads....that both of them had failed to notice. Then the woman hits the man on the arm like it was his fault, and I said, "Hey, cut the guy some slack - neither one of you had the presence of mind to look up! Enjoy your party." Can't see the forest for the trees, sometimes. Sheesh! People.....

Can't see the forest for the Pokémon.

I walked this earth for 46 years without playing any Pokémon. Over the years my kids had some of the games and would say odd words from time to time while playing it. Never made sense. But this Go game...I like it.

It's kind of like super easy geocaching without the rattlesnakes and the cactus with a whole lot more caches. I don't know what to do with the Pokémon I've caught, but my kids ask me to go for walks, so I'm good with it.

And since last Thursday, Nintendo reports that Pokemon (short for "pocket monster") Go has brought in $7.5M in revenue in the US alone.

I was in Houston from last Tuesday until late this afternoon.

Friday night, some idiot walking around wearing all black clothes in my nephew's apartment complex almost served duty as a speed bump for yours truly. When I blew the horn at him, he came unglued and started screaming "You made me loose it." I had no clue what he was going on about and was trying to decide if I was going to need the W49, the 1217, or the 1911 to put the deranged idiot out of my misery.
