Getting first aid kits put together for BOBs and camping bags. Anyone have anything in their first aid kits that's not normal? I've got a pretty good list so far but still thinking I might be missing something...

Bandaid, assorted sizes
Tweezers
Gauze
Trauma shears
Ace wrap
Blister skins
Peroxide/alcohol
Smelling salts
Neosporin
Splint
Trauma wrap
Butterfly closures/suture kit
Quick clot
Morton/aspirin
Sterile gloves
Scalpel
Med tape
Cold and hot packs

Think I'm missing anything?

I like to carry - (some go in the first aid kit, some go in the BOB/Camping Kit)
-- some of the individually packaged wet wipes for general finger/hand cleaning.
-- spare glasses cleaners if anyone wears glasses or if you are carrying binoculars
-- spare diabetic tester and strips if someone is diabetic (if grabbing a BOB, one might not remember to grab the test kit).
-- a few dust masks for dust storms, fire evacuations with a lot of smoke and ash in the air.
-- a small bottle of your vitamins as a nutritional supplement in the event of a stranding situation
-- water purification tablets
-- aloe gel for minor (1st degree) burns

In a couple of months, I'm taking a mountain rescue course with some of the ESEE people, and it requires an NFPA Rescue Technician II certification as a pre-requisite. I don't have the creds (yet), but the instructor gave me an exemption with the mandate that I have my crap together before attending. I have gone through the ESEE Rope Rescue course a couple of times though. The main thing I need to review are high line set-ups. May go down and train with a cave rescue unit south of me. I took their SRT class a couple of years ago, have become friendly with some of the folks on that team, and have bounced a few pits with them. I have an open invitation to come down and participate in their weekly training sessions.

i'm more interested in modern arbor climbing, Ddrt, and SRT, but i want certs and training in a variety of things, including rescue.

ping me offline if you know of opportunities please.

"not too old"

and end goal of mine, is being a resource, officially, to train locals.

Thank you, Knife Rights.

Maybe have an antihistamine for bug bites?

ranitidine -- class 2 "anti-histamine", can be used with any of the others (benadryl, zyrtec, claritin, etc....) to increase their effectiveness.

Good input and ideas. Thanks guys! Definitely some things I didn't think of!

Dag gum! Is that a raffle/use for just being a member or what?

Wow!
I saw one of those 'live' once, swimming around Hercules. 'Live' meaning it was happening in real time, but I was on the surface watching the video.

I'm so bored and antsy out here that I'm going to click in General. Pray for me.

I made it guys, you can call off the search.
It was touch and go for awhile, and I sure don't feel any better.

Thought you might have run off with Moose and Derek. And Tradewater!!
Whew...

Let's send Dunk. We can afford to lose him. :D
I've been looking for seven hours. No sign of them. I've learned a lot. Lots and lots. Some good. Some terrifying. (One guy has fewer knives than bigghoss bought in guns last week and was wondering if he had too many.) I've got to sleep now. But I'll resume my search later Mr. Hoss. [emoji13]
