Wow Mauser! Your stuff is really looking good!
Keep up the great work!
That's cool that you mentioned Nick's work as an inspiration to your own work.
I've always been a fan of his leather work and I'm super stoked that he's back in the sheath making game.

Finally finished a project of my own...

It took some time, but they are getting along well now.

So much fun video. That was me and my brother for a time, until I just got bigger (well, duh, I'm the older brother) and then it wasn't so fun for him any more. Last time we grappled (in our late twenties, IIRC) we both decided that we were over it. Now, he's much stronger than I am (I have 2 kids and limited workout time and he is single and is focused on staying strong (certified cross fit instructor) for his great love, surfing) so it's pretty good we called a truce a couple decades ago - otherwise I'm pretty sure I'd get my ass kicked! Looks like Neko's headed for the same thing.....

This is so incredibly geeky, I....still laughed. It's so lame, tho.

Thanks for all the computer advice.

Seems like this Windows 7 disc will do what I want then. Ubuntu sounds very interesting but I want Windows on this computer. I told my daughter I would get minecraft working on this for her and I want to get Steam running on it for other games.

But I have several other computers with no operating systems. Now that I know there is a free one I will definitely be trying ubuntu out.

FYI Steam machines actually run on Linux, AFAIK. You should DEFINITELY try Ubuntu out. Especially for the low, low cost of free.

Has your Taco been consuming 'shrooms or something?

My daughter's horse riding instructor made me want to ride, too. Absolutely NO chance of that happening, though.

If that gets me 99.9mpg i will park my truck in the horse pasture up the road everyday haha

I've been orange for almost 3 years. I do leather work for Beckers and Cold Steel tomahawks.

But I haven't sold much lately. I stopped taking orders. I had a waiting list that took me over a year to finish and it was stressful. I am a stay at home dad raising and homeschooling my 2 daughters and they really keep me busy. 2 full time jobs were too much for me. So now I make what I want and sell it when I have time.

I do more leather work in the summer when my kids are on summer vacation. Last week was our last week of school so its time for me to get to work. I have a 2x42 Craftsman sander and a Tandy press both still new in the box still I need to mount in my shop.

You were a big inspiration to me when I started learning leather. I really like your work.

Here are a few things Ive made.

Loving the hawk setups. Awesome work.

Nice toy :)

They play like that for a while each time. When Neko gets tired he gets a bit angry and will really growl at Leo. Then i have to separate them because Leo doesn't care if Neko is tired lol

I wouldn't wanna grapple with my step brother either... He is a muscular 190lbs and works out all the time. Has since he was in middle school... If i had to fight him id hit him with a shovel or something. :D
Hallooooo......is this thing on?

Just Barely.

Thank you for all the compliments my friends. I really appreciate it.

Leather work has been amazing for me. It really filled a creative gap in my life. I wish I had found it when I was younger and more motivated.

That's awesome bud! I can't believe I didn't notice before.

Looks like you're doing some really clean work, and that's hard to do. I think it took me a while to get clean lines on my work.

I'm both flattered and surprised that I was an inspiration! That makes me happy. Moose and Goose were my inspirations and Goose mentored me somewhat when I was first learning. Both great makers and great men.

Keep up the good work bud!! And get those tools out and break them in!!

I think it's really cool! I honestly never thought I'd be an inspiration to anyone. Maybe an example of what not to do...

Jonny when did you turn blue? And when can I touch your new toy? ;)

Thank you! Talking to you has me feeling very motivated. I think I'm going to have a good summer. :)

I dont remember Moose doing any leather work but I sure do miss having him around. He was a lot of fun. Crazy bastard.

This was sent in for a sheath, I googled it but couldn't find any info on it. Owners says it's IXL Wostenholm Etch hunting knife but the blade says Joseph Rogers??

Mauser what shovel is that?

Its called the Crovel. Its an interesting tool. Its handle is waterproof and has survival items inside. You can also add a spike to the end in place of the cap that threads into the handle.

Its not mine. A local customer ordered the sheath from me. I wanted to make the sheath black to match the tool but he insisted on brown to match all his other leather knife sheaths.

I got to play with it for a few weeks. I think its to heavy for what it is. But could be cool to keep in a truck I guess. There are youtube videos about it if you are interested.

Oh yeah, I just remembered something about this that I had to edit and add. The guy who makes the crovel went on the show doomsday preppers and shot his thumb off on the show. He has a mini thumb now.

Here is a video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qth1k962_9A

Sent you a pm.

Looks like Joseph Rodgers is a historic name/brand
http://www.sheffieldcollectableknives.com/about/joseph-rodgers

My pm has a link that makes me think the historic brand has been licensed by IXL Sheffield Knives who manufactures it now.

Has anyone heard anything out of Derek? I know he hasn't been as active here lately due to work, but I was wondering about his situation with the flooding in WV.

IIRC he's a little bit away from where it was really bad, so he should be fine, though I hope he does get on soon to confirm.
