un-Official Modded Kershaw/ZT Thread (Scales, Regrinds, Frankensteins, Dye-Jobs, etc)

removed the thumbstud since I didn't use it to deploy the blade anyway, and had richardj do a little something else to it :)

yup, very different. Don't know if you noticed, but the recurve is gone and the DLC is intact :)

Had a custom scale made for my 0550 by our very own Rival1314. A much needed mod

The light i'm using isn't bringing out the true color, it is much darker in person.

edited reply. forgive my shortness. I've been sleeping on the couch because the only joy I get has been from the too many knives I've been buying and playing with.

uh yeah that's exactly how I did it. jeez.

I figured being from Hawaii that you would have contrived some form of abrasive belt from a coconut husk and a conch shell with suntanning oil as the lubricant. Of course you needed some papaya for sustenance during the 27hr arduous task.
HaHA!

Nice job on the wave feature. Does it work well?

Even better than the original, not to take anything away from Mr. Emerson's design for without him I wouldn't even have had the idea. The shape is the key and makes all the difference.

Cut down the scale on my 561 to match the liner, makes it much easier to unlock.
Took about 30 seconds with a dremmel and maybe a minute with 400 grit to smooth it all out.

Disclaimer: dremmeling is a good way to ruin whatever you're working on, I don't recommend it.

^^Damn those look nice:D^^

here's a "fallout" Cryo... Stripped off the coating, Acid stonewash on the frame...standard stonewash on the blade. resulted in a nice worn look, the two tone turned out great. I left the coating on the hardware...may strip & bronze it but I really like it with the black...

Couple of questions for you Rival.

Do you not drill for left handed clip mounting? I ask because as a righty I don't use 'em and don't like the way they look.

In this pic, how much would a scale just like this run?

And finally, did you use PCB etching solution to acid wash that Cryo?

Thanks!

I dont drill for lefty unless asked..they interfere with patterns and aesthetic.
