un-Official Modded Kershaw/ZT Thread (Scales, Regrinds, Frankensteins, Dye-Jobs, etc)

I made this one and love how it turned out. Olive drab micarta , compared to the regular on top and the O.D. g10 on the bottom that i also made. Might have to put a pattern on it. .

Alright guys I have a question. I was going to attempt this myself, but just missed out on buying a lite user 1425 talon 2 for real cheap. Has anyone made a 1420 into a 1421 bottle opener, or like I was looking to do, make a 1425 into a bottle opener. I was going to remove the thumbstuds and dremel away.
I am jonesing for one bad (pun intended), but I am cash strapped after this sweet ass month of collecting some rarities!

Dave still has some 1425s as of today, 12/14/12. Just got mine and it is a cool little knife

EDIT: D'oh! Forgot that I have and Echelon now! Anything I need to know about RIT dying it?

Doesn't the Talon II also use the studs as blade stops? :(
 
^^ Indeed it does, plus the blade sits deeper in the handle than the old Talons too. That makes it harder to have a functional wave. I'ce been on the prowl for one for a long time, keep getting sniped though when I have one nearly in my grasp. I do love the talon blade design...its a monster cutter! The ZT version is on my list of future aquisitions as its a bit bigger....plus its a ZT!
 
Yeah I forgot that the thumstuds were thumbstops on that one. Good thing I missed out on the one I was after! I might bite the bullet in a month or two and pick up a regular 1420 and give it a shot if I can bring myself to do it. I believe the 1421's that were bottle openers all had combo edges so it would be something different.

Got my Rivals in the mail today, and I can't possibly express how happy I am with them! The fit, finish, and color are fantastic, communication throughout the process was great, and the whole deal was just as close to perfect as I could ask for!
