Unfolding: The World of Art Knives

By the way- I opened my signed copy of "The Great Collections" and read David's note to me with a smile on my face. The date was April 8th, 2007.

He said, in part,- "the last volume in this adventure in the world of sharp art that we love so much...."

HA!!!! Last volume?? :D

Hello Neil,
Thank you for the kind words about my new book...

Actually, when I published "The Great Collections", I already new
about the first book in my new series, Edmund Davidson's book.

In 2007 I could not imagine plunging once again into one
more general volume on Custom Knives. I just could not
imagine myself doing once again something of such
magnitude - working with many dozens of knifemakers,
collectors and photographers from all around the world.

Too nerve racking, too much stress and anxiety.

But love is unpredictable so this year I have "The World of Art Knives"... :)
AND... And, because of hinted demand maybe "The World of Art Knives II" in 2013...:D

See you and everyone else later this week in Atlanta!

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)

Come and see me, Tim Hancock and the new book At BLADE 2010,
Table N5 (see attached floor plan)...

I come over to the USA once a year, I am dying to talk knives
with you makers and collectors, and add a face and a voice
to your names...

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)

Hello everyone!

It was a great BLADE Show, wasn't it?
It was nice meeting quite a few of you guys and being able
to add a face and a voice to names I have read so many times.

The boxes and boxes of books emptied out quickly and before the
the end of the second day we sold out....

Thanks to everyone who made this a great event!

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)

David - Congratulations, but I doubt anyone had any thought that there would be any books left! What a wonderful book, too. I sure wish I hadn't been called away at the last minute because I was so looking forward to seeing you.

Best regards,

Bob

EDIT: And David, now that "The World of Art Knives" is officially out there in the public's hands, I just want to thank you for being so kind as to give me that invitation for the "back flap"! You're too kind, thanks again!

David it was great to see you and thank you for a wonderful book.

I was the lucky winner of this fantastic book at the drawing of the CKCA dinner which by the way was fantastic.

David was kind enough to personalize the book

It is fantastic to see so many people and read there words that you know.

Again thanks David and all that are involved for a fantastic book and a great show

I am back from Van Barnett and Dellana's home/workshop,
where with my son Nir we did the on location photography
for their book in my new series. The book will be:
"The ART KNIVES of Van Barnett and Dellana" (2011).

It was an exciting event as they created two folders, a liner-lock
by Van and a lock-back by Dellana. A matching pair of true full
authorship art folders.

It was great meeting some of you at BLADE!!!!

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)

That sounds GREAT David. I've admired both of their work and especially the James Schmidt inspired knives that Dellana has made.

It was good seeing you again this year at Blade, and I have been thoroughly enjoying "The World of Art Knives".

Van Barnett and Dellana certainly fulfill the "Art" in making knives!

Peter
