unfortunately I have to see gsm warranty process...

update on this.....for anyone interested.

good parts......so called after the 2 months. they answered phone fast maybe 2 to 3 minutes of hold time, without exaggerating. rep was very pleasant and wanted to help. could tell was working very hard to solve my issues and cared. they had all my info from first call logged on their system. didnt have to repeat anything or start over.

bad parts. ... process is have to upload proof of purchases to them to get warranty started. so I did that last night. I expect but do not know, if ya lose or delete your email or receipt youre gonna maybe have trouble...or if youre a second owner or have very old product etc.

they still have no stock om the ad15 s35vns, so they cant solve the issue, but said I can start it so I did and ill be put on a backorder list.

I'll update as more happens.

Its still here after the update, thought it might go away, thinking the interest shown here is keeping it open.
Fingers crossed for you jbmonkey.

That second part is VERY discouraging. I no longer keep boxes, and printed receipts that arrive with the knife are thrown away with the shipping box as well as the manufacturer’s box the knife arrived in. I can’t imagine having to deal with digging thru a zillion emails to find order confirmations. I’ve only needed warranty work on maybe a couple knives (?) over many years of buying and it has always went smoothly, but this sounds like a major pain in the butt.

yep. agreed. thats why I put it in the bad part of the update. its a bs policy that won't go well......but its their company to run into the ground, if they want to.......

I never understood warranties, knives, optics, guns, etc. that warranty the items for the original purchaser.

It’s the product that’s warrantied, should be regardless even if it changed hands 100 times.
It's just a way to reduce costs for the manufacturer/seller.
Actually for most products the warranty is not transferable as it is a legal agreement
between the maker/seller and the original buyer.
LLBean was famous for their warranty on their boots until a few years ago when they felt they could no longer deal with the number
of people who bought the boots second hand then sent them in for repairs "under warranty".

What’s the difference between the original owner or the 2nd hand owner sending the boots in for repair?

Thanks for the update.

I am very disappointed to hear about their new direction.

I would add an update and opinion of my own. I do not personally expect any manufacturer to warranty a product beyond the intended purpose or lifespan. Some do, but I do not. I don't wear pants till the knees are ragged holes then claim Levi's did something wrong. I don't eat my breakfast Cheerios and sent in the box expecting a refill, nor would I use that box as a tire chock and complain when it failed.

Even with knives I expect different things from different companies and designs. Some are lovely and precise and delicate. They belong in a suit pocket next to the keys to the Bentley. Cold Steel doesn't make those.

Cold Steel makes the rough tattooed hooligans of the knife world. They are the partner you want when things are gonna get dirty or wet. But they are still only a knife. That's the only job they were made for. And even then they will not last forever.

It would suck if they did. It would eliminate another reason to buy more.

oops mean Gridiron capital since gsm has been sold now too......

have 2 ad15s that have way too much up and down blade play. new production versions not first versions or old stock. ill post updates as I make contact and the process for anyone who might have to deal with gsm. ive reached out by email which I expect won't go well and I'll have to call in a day or two....but gonna see how they handle issues on warranty.

out of hundreds of knives over decades from about every brand. these are the fifth and sixth I've ever had to have fixed or replaced. I've had a good run, overall.

Damn, makes me nervous, as I just ordered a AD 15 Lite. Sorry about your troubles, my friend.

don't be Billy boy.😁 I got an ad15 lite recently and no play in the one I got. you should be okay....plus they got those in stock currently to exchange if needed...and if ya get a bad one just have dealer exchange before ya go to using it.

Awesome! How is the action on yours? I'm hoping to have a fidget factor with mine. I know it's very annoying, but I'm one of those people who fidget with their knives, ha.

its really good on my lite. worlds of difference from the s35vns I have issues with on blade play i talked about here in this post. you'll be happy i think, unless some of my bad luck rubs off on ya. 😄 hopefully not.

Thanks my friend

It's sad Cold Steel went down this road. While they were never my favorite brand, they made amazing knives, for a fair price.

I used to think that Cold Steel products were a great value. Especially for the working class. Well made knives with a certain coolness factor. At reasonable prices. Not anymore. Between MAP pricing and the sale of the business they lost my business.
