United Cutlery's new offer.....anyone?

I knew you had a screw loose, Mq. :D Not surprising, though. There was no loctite on anything on mine, so I added some blue to all screws when I first got it. The screws on these knives are odd. The pivot and pocket clip screws are Torx, while the handle screws are Allen/hex. T8 pivot, T6 clip screws, and I believe the hex screws are 5/64". I'll have to look at my hex key set again tonight to be sure. I also re-measured the lock and gap last night. Lock was right at .10", but I mismeasured the gap somehow. Last night I got .049". Not sure how I came to .051" the first time.

Dangit! They are onto me!

I did not notice the missing allen screw on my first look - and I carried it for a day as well - but when I took the pictures and looked the knife over closely, well, it is pretty obvious.

I called the customer support of the large online retailer where I bought it (sounds like a river) and they could not send me an allen bolt, so they are shipping me a new knife and I am sending this one back to them.

I'll put this one back in the box and give the replacement some use to see how it holds up.

I will have to check all the fasteners on the new one and add some locktite as well, thanks for the heads up.

Hey, good deal on getting a replacement. Maybe the new one will lock up a bit earlier as well.

I received my replacement today!! They Fed-Ex'd it over night - no kidding.

The replacement has no flaws and the lockup is earlier, but since it is all steel, the blade and the lockbar, if the heat treat is good it should last a good long time.

If you order one and don't get your $25 dollars worth, it will not be the fault of the knife.

I will say that the rhino-point upswept point makes it awkward to do detail cutting with the tip.

I have not had to cut sheet cardboard while I have had this knife as yet. I am thinking I can use the "point" where the upsweep starts and the straight portion of the blade ends to do long sheet cuts - We'll see soon enough.

I got mine sharp now- I like it better. It took some work to get the front edge down to 30 (inclusive). I believe I will make mine more of a drop point soon. I am not a huge tanto fan.

Forgot to update on the handle screws. They do work with a 5/64" hex key. A T8 will also fit in them, but I wouldn't advise it. I'd be afraid it would slip and strip with any real torque. The sockets are clearly hexagonal and not star shaped like Torx heads.

I might give one of these a try. I like big folders(practical, no, but fun) and for a $25-ish knife I might give it a shot since you guys say it's not too bad.
