Unofficial Rat Chat!

Here's the biggest fish I have caught. About a month ago. Pepsi can is there for perspective.

I honestly don't know. They were my buddy's poles. The one on the left was 65#, about 125# on the right.

Halibut beer bits...my absolute favorite way to eat fish!

Morning Fellas. Nice fish. Gotta love beer battered halibut. Jeff, that space alien bit had me spewing all over. Is that guy for real? It's nice to know the Galactic council is so interested in our political arena. How friggin fruit loopie can you get. Ya know, with acorn around, I'm not sure the aliens haven't registered to vote. :D

Idaho, those halibut look amazing!

Not a halibut (a little turbot I caught off a Welsh surf beach on a Japanese spinner, I returned it because it was small).

Tony, how did those peacock bass fight? Is it true they are like little pitbulls?

Not me (I wish!!!), I believe this pike was caught and returned in Holland, what a whopper! That thing could easily eat a duck!

Yeah it was a muskullunge. In all truthfulness this was bycatch in one our gillnet sets used for research purposes. However, fish this size are relatively common in the Detroit River and Lake St. Clair. In fact, this particular fish is just 10 cm over the minimum length requirement for taking one by angling license (1.09 m; this one was 1.24 m).

Musky are interesting fish in that they are one of the most size selective freshwater piscivores out there. The general rule is that they tend to take fish that are 1/3 their body length. That means this guy is easing 35-40 cm fish. The wooden plugs the musky fisherman troll are huge things and they are attached to rods as thick as broom sticks.

The econpmy is so bad that the Gov. has cut funding to Nasa. Nasa has turned to the private sector to help.

Doen't everyone feel like they have a bullseye on them at some point?

Enjoy!

Congrats. Hang in there. October 22nd will be one year for me!

Good on ya broski. The hardest part for me is how much I just liked smoking. For me, it wasn't just an addiction. I didn't just do it because I "had to". I did it because I genuinely enjoyed having a cigarette. One thing is for damn sure... beer doesn't taste near as good as it used to.

amen to that. but dude hang in there you'll make it!

I'm gonna call bullshit on that Dylside. You're an addict, as am I. Smoking was one of the best pleasures I have known. If I ever get diagnosed with a terminal disease I'm going to buy a truckload of red-pack Winstons and smoke 'em til I die. Smoking is one of the best things that's even been invented next to sex.
