Unofficial Rat Chat!

Little trivia question for everyone. Does anyone remember what Book or Movie this came out of. "The 3 most important rules to remember about life are
1. Humor
2. Paradox
3. Change."
One of my favorites, and curious in anyone here will know it's origin. :D

Would that be... Peaceful Warrior?

Sorry, I got hung up for a couple days. Peaceful Warrior is it. One of my favorites. The book is a bit better than the movie, but both are good and I would recommend everyone rent it or read it.

My latest attempt. Scandi influenced full tang hunter. Bolivian rosewood handle. I left a little forging scale for individual effect. Made from 1/8" O-1 stock, Triple tempered. I put a convex scandi grind on it. It's a fun hobby, and I get to fill niches in my own collection. The handle has 4 hidden pins.

I have read about them a number of times, but never have I seen one until now. Have any of you ever used a fire piston? They are pretty cool. I was walking through Sportsman's warehouse and there it was. Hanging next to the firesteels. It was priced at $50, so it was left hanging, but I might have to get one. :D

I have been smoking for the better half of my life. I just got my but handed to me on a hike up a lil mountain today. This chick handled it like it was nothing as she is a fitness nut; I kept up as best as I could and I think I dropped a lung and a testicle on the way up. I really need to quit.

Congrats fellas and keep up the goodwork.

yes you do

Hey Jeff, welcome back. How where the hills? Any pics? You ever used a fire piston? :D

That knife is super cool bro. I like the simple, functional look. I also love it when a maker leaves all the marks on the blade except where it is ground for the edge. Good stuff! Keep it up.

Thanks Bro. Just so everyone is clear. I do not make knives for anyone other than myself and a couple personal friends. Posting a pic of a knife I made is not intended to illicit interest or contacts. It's a fun hobby, but not an efficient way for Me to make money. Besides, once you take a hobby into that arena, it loses it's fun. :D

Has anyone ever made a kit knife? What does that entail? Do you just put the scales on and finish them, or do you need to do some grinding on the blade as well?

I was thinking about getting my brother a fixed blade kit for Christmas. He is a good wood worker, but I don't think he knows anything about grinding.

Cool fish Yorkshire Boy (man I think pudding every time I see your handle).

Here is my wife working some fuzzies with the RC-3

WoooHooo I have an excuse to buy another one!!!!

Five knives to complete the collection. These are the five I'm working on. After these I'm taking a break. It's amazing how threatened some act (no one here) when a guy posts a few pics of home made blades. Like I'm some kind of threat to their business. Here they are. Top two are fatty fives. one with green canvas micarta and red liners. one with osage orange wood and red liners. Middle blade is my bushcrafter, that will be handled in Mesquite burl and green liners. The bottom two are my new hunters. one in green canvas, red liners and one in blood wood with green liners.

Thanks for lookin.:D

I know what you mean, Cody. All you have to do is mention an RC knife on some other manufacturer's forums and the owners/moderators go nuts. We love all knives. BTW: I like that bottom profile the best on the pic you posted.

Thanks Jeff, I'll have it on me in June for you to check out. The savings is on track. Really lookin forward to it. :D

Sorry, Cody, we don't allow anyone else's knives in the jungle except RAT Cutlery. We're afraid the participants might find out that a 5 dollar machete works a lot better than a 125 dollar RC-6 and cost us business! :D :D

Cody1 - I really like the 3rd one from the top. Looks like a solid bushcraft design.
