Unusual things you (had to) use your knife for

I've had to reshape the tip of a guitar pick for a friend yesterday, and of course I used my knife. And I thought this would be a good idea for a thread

What do you do with your knives that goes beyond opening letters and breaking down cardboard boxes ?
Share unusual/funny/weird uses for a knife, maybe something only you do with a knife ?

I'll start:
-reshaping guitar pick
-prying apart Ikea furniture
-used my Rat-1 blade as a thickness gauge (needed something about 3mm thick)
-use it as a ruler (measure in knife-lengths ;))

A couple weeks ago I was with my 2yo daughter at our local Comcast office to get a replacement remote. Before we left I gave her a quarter to put in the candy machine. She put the quarter in but couldn't turn the handle. I figured she was just too weak so I went to turn it but it would only turn about 25% and stop. The quarter sat so deep that you couldn't get it out with just your fingers. First I pulled out my Bic Clic Stic (pen) but couldn't get it to keep contact while lifting the quarter out. Next I got my RAT 1 out and poked the quarter with the tip. That allowed me to push up on the quarter and wiggle it up and out.

Wow...such an anti-climactic story! lol

With last month being movember and all everyone measure their facial hair in blade lengths!

The strangest thin I ever used my knife for was to cut my nearly dead dog down from the blinds she had gotten her back leg caught in and then had the other dogs attack her till she was nearly dead because they didnt understand the situation, all they knew was something was wrong. There was atlease a pt of blood everywhere, it was bad, it took lots and lots of work but I saved her.

Tried to pry a soft plastic filler strip off the top of a motorcycle battery with my brand new Kershaw Leek. No other tool available. Bent the blade badly.
Merry Christmas!

Even though the mods closed the thread, you are still pushing this story.... Really petty.

Hey, motorcycles are always more important than knives. I'm glad to see that you have your priorities in proper order.

Few weeks back I had to scrape ice from my bicycle seat that I wouldn't freeze my rear. :P

Dont think I understood the whole thing (not your fault, I'm dutch) But it sounds like a very sad story.

Not really unusual but occasionally I use my knife to pry a splinter out of my fingers or hand.

Yesterday I was pulling a window pane out of my Sisters house that somehow got broken and I had to replace the pane of glass with a Plywood piece until the glass can be replaced.

The glass came out by pulling it up and out of the track but the plywood was bowed pretty badly and would no go into the track clean enough to stay put.
I needed to be able to work it from both inside and outside at the same time but was by myself, well aside from the Brown Dog and just starred at it for a while thinking?

So I whip out my new Thermite and stab at an angle a few times until I can use it to pull as well as push the plywood and in a few tries it was seated in the track like I wanted it.

Sure a screw might have done the same thing but......I was pretty satisfied.

I used my Contego to turn one of my wife's shoes into a flat. She had broke the heel on the other one.

Cleaning weeds out of my concrete joints. Opening paint cans. cleaning the inside corners of my mark III chamber. turning coals of a small fire. flipping a log. turning meat on a grill. screwdriver. wedge/spacer. Cutting matted hair off of my shaggy dog. cleaning excess sealant off of a window. Cutting the base of a candle for a friend so it would fit into their holiday candle holder. checking for a stud in a drywalled garage...

bent blade is fixable , broken blade is .. broken ...
I prefer bent personally , at least no flying scraps of blade to cause distraction .

In the parking lot of a medical clinic on Guam, a palm frond had broken off and was locking my car. Lacking a machete, I used my pocket knife (2 1/2 inch blade) to notch the palm frond and cut it off to be pulled away. Not the ideal tool for the job, but a small knife can still perform the task if used carefully.:D I am sure Tarzan would be better prepared.

Cut open big round hay bales, do this a few times a week. Chopped holes in the water troughs so the horses could get to water. Mostly just regular farm tasks and cutting stuff.

Used a Benchmade Grip to dig out some fiberglass splinters from my hand. And this happened a while ago, but almost had to use my CRKT Minimalist to defend myself against my idiot cousin.

Today I had to use my CRKT Drifter to un-stick the button on the electric hand dryer in the men's room at work. Probably saved the building from burning down...or at least saved a nickel's worth of electricity :)

I pried open the gas cap door on my 4Runner last night with my Sebenza 25 because it had a sheet of ice on it.
