They had me at GEC #54 with a big spear point blade!!

I wonder what else is going to end up on this pattern.
My hopes are twofold:
1. A big Clip blade --> make a moose or a big jack
2. Sheepsfoot & Spey blades --> make a big cattle knife with a spear main

And of course, give us a hardwood option for the covers, because Northwoods has a penchant to cover everything in stag.

Can't wait to see it!!

I'm not loving the logo. Similarly the crude arrowheads, silly holes, phony Skagel stamps, or other 'rustic' kitsch. Just not my 'thing'.

Bring back the Northwoods senator, knives made like they really were a hundred years ago!

You've got your wish it seems, based on photos posted at another website.

Neat blade grind, though I'm with Bob in that I'm not crazy about the logo. Be interesting to see what other blade they pair it up with.

I quite like the rustic aesthetic, it came together pretty well on the previous #25 line. The sabre grind makes a novel change from the full flat grinds, though in practice I like the thinness of the usual GEC grinds.

Agreed! I really like the different design decisions, and how they work together.

I look forward to seeing pictures of my little #25's big brothers. :)

Trev, the #54 pattern is the 4-1/8" equal end frame, with half-stops. The three on the right below are #54s, on the left are 4" toothpicks.

Nice, thanks for the shot and the info! I'm gong to look into one of these, that blade appeals to me for some reason.

I feel drawn to these and the Northwoods #25. I just hope they come out with a wood handled option.

Just saw the blades on the GEC site and noticed the logo. And a smile came up to my face.

Derrick, 3 questions:

1- When will it be available?
2- You will still have that beautiful bone you offered on the #25?
3- What's the next pattern? :D

This will be Barehead?? Could be a very nice and different 54- if you get a really good stag specimen it would be killa:D:thumbup:

These are horrible answers....

1. Soon. Honestly I know they are moving through, but no ETA. Best guess is another month.
2. Yes. It is planned. the only one we are doing differently is a "calico bone" instead of the cocobolo
3. I can't remember. We planned this whole deal out months ago and I have slept since then. :)

...and soon there will be a brand new pattern for Northwoods. Dies are in the works.
