Upcoming Northwoods #54

nice pics P. Im actually going to give Derrick a visit this Saturday and i will report in on the walk and talk of the knives. As for the looks, well, the pics speak for themselves.

WOW! These Forest Jack's look fantastic.

Has anyone got a picture of these 'from the top', I was wondering about how wide they are in the hand/pocket?

Does anyone have any measurements of it? It might have been mentioned before, I mostly just looked at the pictures.

This looks like one of those knives I absolutely need to buy. That's not a good thing when I have decided not to buy more knives for a while.

The stag handled one looks fantastic! Derrick, are you taking pre-order on these or do you know when they will arrive?

If and when you do get something just a bit bigger, I'll be interested in hearing if/how the #25 holds up. I know they're not for everyone, but I think they're way cool, almost more so in comparison with their bigger brethren-- the foreshortened proportions.

Speaking of bigger brethren, good night there's some beautiful bone here:

Actually, I think your are right - I think the 54 is more than just a "bit" bigger than the 25, and I really like the 25, it has "charm". I'll post a bit about it on the 25 thread.

That bone though . . .those are some amazing iridescent colors, I would have guessed it had to be acrylic of some sort! Nice work!

Well, I couldn't take it anymore. After I handled one of these when my wife and I visited Great Eastern last weekend, I knew I had to own one. I just pulled the trigger on a cashmere bone one.

Now, to go set up camp next to my mailbox...

Built on the #54 frame - so 4" closed. Also on Derricks site the weight is listed as 3.5 oz, blade thickness .10", blade length 2.9" :)

Is this knife called the "Forest" or "Forester"? KSF website is conflicting as their text says both.

I am at a complete loss as to what to do. I have owned the #25 for over a week now and it truly is one of the best edc knives I have ever owned. The size is so practical for carry and it is built like a tank. I love this design but I do know if I would carry both of them. Truly this deisgn, from the blade thickness and shape, the long nail nick, to the fit and finish is perfect. Right now I carry a small fixed blade (the Izula II), a slipjoint (the #25 Bullet Jack in Stag) and a dedicated food knife (Inox Opinel #8) I can't see myself carrying 4 knives and I am not sure I can put the #25 down. Decisions, decisions....

Sounds like you answered your own question. ;) Having recently re-entered the world of traditional knives, I might just have to pick up one of those cashmere bones. I'm definitely a carbon-steel, single-blade kind of guy and the size is perfect for me.

I started calling it the Forester and then switched to forest. I will have to find that errant er. :)

Wow those camel bone handles are very nice looking! Are there a lot of different colors or is there a lot of variation in the way the camel bone takes the color?

Well I could not resist. I ended up buying one in Stag to keep my Stag #25 company. I have spent many years with knives, collecting, using and designing. This pattern is one of the, if not the, greatest single-blade designs I have seen and used. My hats off to you Mr. Bohn. Keep them coming. I will post pics once I get it.

Not to be overly brownosing, but I think there's a lot of Derrick and KSF in that one.

Oops, Yep, I didnt mean to give all the credit to GEC. I just saw it on the GEC website and hit the ceiling! I just ordered A cashmere bone from KSF and cant wait. Fantastic design Derrick, really cant wait to handle one..
