Upcoming surgery and the Fall Beckerhead Gathering

made it home alive right at 9PM CDT.
had a lot of fun -- looking forward to sleeping on a real mattress tonight.
as per my usual - I did not take any pictures. :)

Made it home and slept it off for a bit. I learned that pork roll is a wonderful thing. As always; I had a real real good time and learned much. Working toward a few new ideas for my home shop. Thanks boss and everyone for a heck of a weekend.

Late to this thread, but I hope you're doing well Ethan. Sounds like the gathering was a blast as usual, hope all the hooligans treated you well :)

Oh, yeah -- Saturday morning the attempt was made to hammer a large, custom made 3V chopper through a RR spike -- due to a flaw in the actual steel, this ended much quicker than anyone expected. the longest shard was then picked up with a pair of vise grips and we proceeded to hammer on the knife some more -- it scarred up the spike and eventually we got some edge tear-out and stopped. it is unclear what the end result would have been, but I suspect it would have included some very tired arms either way.
Then Ethan handed me a fresh out of the box BK2 and a 2 lb dead blow hammer -- 11 strikes later, there was an appreciable notch in the RR spike, some coating wear on the spine of the knife, and an edge roll that sharpened out after about 30 seconds of use with a diamond card.
could I have continued?
yes.
did I need to?
no.

This was one of the most impressive things I've first hand witnessed with a BK-2!

Nice.

When Ethan came out of the shop with that BK-2, my son and I both caught the modest yet confident mischievous glean in his eye.

There's actually a couple videos. Not sure if they'll be posted are not.

That depends on if I ever get my hands on them or not. ;)

The results of that test remain... inconclusive. I have a pretty strong theory about why what happened, happened... but I really can't say any more until I have more data.

This happened:

I was pleased with Sabbath's behavior among the Beckerheads. It helps that they are the sort of folks who gently welcome poorly-trained barely-house-broken animals... and also, their puppies ;) :p

I apologize for looking "sour-faced" in that pic; I assure y'all, my mood was not sour at all. :)

Thanks again for the nearly-overwhelming sense of hospitality and powerful fellowship.
