UPDATE Hinderer Full Track Lock Stick

Unacceptable considering the price point. I haven't spent that kind of money on a knife yet, but I'd be pretty mad if I did and had those issues.

Just wanted to confirm I did see your email this morning and got back to you. Definitely not something you want to see on a $600 knife, and I will be really curious to see it when it gets back here. Just let me know via the email I sent you if you want a refund or an exchange for one we check over before it goes out.

I’d let DLT make it right for you. I’ve bought 6 Hinderers from them and every one has been flawless. I think you’ll be impressed with the gen 6 models when you get that one exchanged.

Thanks Jordan! I did receive your emails yesterday. Crazy day and I didn’t have time to do anything but put out fires at work. I had no doubt that DLT would provide anything other than outstanding customer service. I’m still a little salty about my experience with Hinderer, so I haven’t completely decided exactly what I want to do yet. I’ll contact you later on how I want to proceed.

Sounds good, if we can be of any assistance don't hesitate to reach out.

Welp, count me in on the Full Track Lock Stick club.
Got mine today and out of the box for the first 15-20 flips, it was great.
Awesome even. Perfect detent - perfect action.

But, I’m getting some pretty mean lock stick too now. 2 out of 3 flips requires a 2 handed unlock. Definitely worsening.
Never experienced it this bad. Had some minor lock stick on a few kershaw cheapies (like $25-$30 China specials) never on any ZT I’ve had. This $600 knife has it bad after 20 flips.

So, guess I’ll be calling DLT? I’d say that’s 2 for 2 in this thread.
I think Rick’s got a geometry issue going on with these. Bummer.
All I know is I’m not getting stuck with it.

I ordered a Fulltrack from DLT when the first run released, and it had horrible lock stick as well. I was extremely disappointed for the price point. I remembered someone mentioning once that pencil lead(graphite)was a common cure for lock stick. So I took a pencil and colored the blade where the lock engages against it and the lock stick was instantly cured! It hasn't returned since, and my blade also suffered from horrible lock stick before this. I highly recommend trying this before returning the knife, if you love the knife and the lock stick is your only issue with it. If you decide to return it, I have no doubt that DLT will take care of you. I buy almost all my knives from them and they are top notch

Now what to do about my stand off screw that mysteriously fell out and is lost. :(

That's not good, especially being your first impression of a Hinderer knife. I've never had that problem with mine. I literally just opened and closed my Full Track 100 times and it didn't happen once. Hopefully you will get this sorted out. Being that you ordered from DLT, I'm sure they will make it right for you. Let us know what happens.

Send it back. I've had 4 Hinderers and 5 CRKs. Nothing but perfection from all of them. Your not sure what your going to do yet?

Geometry issue? Definitely on a couple but not mail stream. Every manufacturer has its day. Nobody is perfect.

This trick may or may not work, based on my experience with multiple knives. But I agree its worth a try.

Wow, this thing is locked up solid. Now it's every single time and takes some pretty intense two-handed work to get it un-stuck.
There's no way graphite will fix this thing long term. She's going back, and I'm not paying for it!

I put a lot of graphite all over the lock face with a pencil in my video and it did nothing. I’ve had it work before, but it sure didn’t work on this Hinderer.

I sent the knife back to DLT and I’m waiting for the replacement to arrive. Perhaps the third time will be a charm. I can’t possibly get that “one bad knife” three times in a row... right?!?!

My apologies, I didn't watch the video before letting my fingers do the talking. Lol. I hope that the issue gets resolved and you aren't turned away from Hinderer, which IMHO are great knives (and my personal favorite)

My xm 3 gen 6 was sticking but just for the first day or two out of the box. No issues since

You’ve definitely have some bad lock stick no doubt . Mine just has a really stiff detent and actually contacted DLT last week and Talked to Paul and what a great guy and was very helpful . I’m on the fence even though I requested a RMA number via email this weekend but there closed so waiting to here back .
It does seem to be breaking in a little but super stiff detent that’s not thumb friendly .
I’m trying to decide if I want to return it or not because I like it so much . I’m afraid to return it for another Fulltrack and get one worse or go for a 24 or 18 .
Decisions Decisions.
One thing for sure DLT has second to none customer service and lightning fast shipping and is why I’ve been a proud and loyal customer for years .

I’ve been playing with my FT all weekend to see if I’m going to exchange/refund it because of the lock stick.
One second it’s fully locked up, over and over, the next it’s tolerable, but not good, at all.
I don’t think lock stick is like a detent that “gets better with break-in”. You have to intervene. Not sure I should have to do that on a $600 knife. I’ve tried graphite (pencil) and it changes things, but it by no means fixes it.
I’ve got 20+ ZTs and they’re all butter compared to this FT as far as unlock.
I love the detent though. I love the knife.
What if the detent is crap on an exchange? What if the exchange has lock stick too (high-likelihood).
Out of the box, this one felt great until the 20th-30th flip. That’s tough for DLT to really be proactive about should I ask them to hand pick me one.
Hopefully DLT will call me or reply to my email in the morning.

I had similar issues with my Full Track and Gen-6 XM-18 3".
The problem were solved by sliding back the steel inserts of both knives that were hanging (about 1to2 mm) out of the lock bars.
