Update: Need Advice on A Transaction"

You should consider, practicing what you preach. Factor this, along with your very own, self serving feedback double standard: I suggest, that maybe you should consider going back to the drawing board, & contemplate doing some introspection, regarding the twisted arguments that you're attempting (without much success), to make here.

BTW- where do you get off, thinking you're an authority figure here; ready to brand the seller, guilty, as a lying a thief, regardless of the fact, that you (or anyone else here for that matter), will never be able to prove factually, if indeed, the seller received the knives...OR NOT! :thumbdn:

And what authority do you have here, that that makes it OK for only you to judge other members' characters, since you brought the while thing up?

I mean, thread after thread, guy comes in to threads that he has nothing to do with and makes judgements on the involved parties.

And there's nothing wrong with that....its kinda the nature of the subforum.

But I am just curious why what's good for the goose doesn't appear, to him, to be good for the gander, as it were.

Maybe I'm missing the "authority," and one of the regulars can fill me in.

Heres an update: just got off the phone with wells fargo there is NO way to indefinitely tell if the check is fraudulent but it is still in blue showing pending and i deposited the check on the 25th of November and could still bounce. Regardless, if the buyer is sure that the package was not tampered with as he put in our conversation(pics upon request) i dont have much of a case with the postal inspectors i have filed a claim with. He says he knows i only shipped one sheath due to the weight on the package although there was NO WEIGHT anywhere on the package. As i said before whats keeping this guy from having my knives and just lying to get some portion of his money back? Thanks for the support guys.
The OCC (Office of the Comptroller of the Currency) recommends calling the issuing bank to verify if the cashier's check is legitimate, not your bank. If the check is not real, the FTC has a hotline for reportng: 1-877-FTC-HELP

Being a lawyer for 30+ years, including several prosecuting and defending theft cases, justifies that claim in my mind.

And to think: I didn't have all that much respect for you, prior to you posting this most recent, admission! ;)

You wouldn't by any chance happen to be, one in the same...would you?!?! ;)

It's reassuring, that we have legal experts, such as yourself, to keep us safe here, & offer, pro bono, legal advice.

Back on topic.

Please keep us updated, Parker/cmac. This situation obviously won't have a good ending for the both of you; it will on the other hand, be an excellent learning tool for future reference.

Kelama: Your comma key has run amok.

And... I've also been an elected State Representative (a politician!!), and have been a lobbyist for the past 15 years. You should have fun with those. Knock yourself out.

On a more serious note - I try to keep my comments relevant to the thread, and occasionally add something of actual value to the discussion. If I fall short in either regard, I don't mind being called on it. I'm happy to admit a mistake, admit my ignorance, or correct my conduct if it's legitimately called into question.

This thread (and its predecessor) has been a strange one. It would be nice if the buyer would explain why he used a cashier's check. It would be nice if there was a photo of the envelope showing the weight (as I believe he has claimed it does). Did I miss those pictures? It would be nice if the seller would explain why he hasn't done what he was advised to do weeks ago - call the issuing bank and confirm the legitimacy of the check. I don't think that's asking too much.

Kalama is a good guy so I'd suggest we stop sniping @ each other and figure this mess out.

I agree with the above regarding the Buyer / Seller. I would think both parties would be doing more to resolve the issue that they both created.

Until the principles indicate some movement towards resolution, this thread is closed.
We don't need bystanders sniping at each other.
