Updated RAM?

I was just curious if there was going to be an updated RAM in the next year or two before I bought a second one.

I gave mine away last summer in the hopes of an upgrade sometime this year. Any info would be nice, but with the economy turning the way it is I wonder if that put a hamper on previous model upgrade plans.

I'm okay with sandvik stuff. I was just wondering if any changes at all would be made, that you know of, in the next year or two.

i plan to get an updated ram sometime in the near future.

i will write a review on it when i do get around to purchasing one (in the next two months i hope)

Well, I don't mind either way, I like the existing one a lot. But I don't want to buy a second one when there'll be a better one a year from now. Any official word on if there is, at least, a moderately high chance of an update this year?

Sorry to artificially bump this thing, but any official word on it? I'd like to be able to order another one Monday with confidence I won't regret it. I'm breaking one of my secret and old rules...never buy the same knife twice.

I need to get another one - I gave mine away at Christmas! The spirit of giving is a good thing, but I need a RAM for me!!

I doubt that Kershaw will re-tool the RAM to incorporate the RAM III lock mechanism - it takes more time than you think to modify the solid models, toolpaths, etc. Plus they'd have to make a new release switch. It would be very cool, but I don't see it happening unless it was in a new knife.

How about the Hawks design a new knife with the RAM III mechanism - maybe with a 3.5" blade?

Well, I'd be interested to know if that was on the way too...I could wait for that.

I like the small stature of the current RAM though. Perfect all around EDC. But we can also do a mini RAM III and full sized RAM III to get everyone satisfied...

I think AM's looking for a RAM III (lock release on spine).

That is the only thing keeping me from getting a RAM. I'm a sucker for all things symmetrical.

Also, the g10 inserts would look nicer if they covered the whole grip, but that's a minor caveat to me compared to the lock release on the left side of the blade. I'd prefer one on the spine. EDIT: I also prefer d2 or 154cm. S30v definitely, but I wouldn't want to jack up the price tooooo much.

I kind of like the odd look of the knife...the asymmetry...the unnecessary blade stop pin where the liners would normally do the work...the oddly shaped G10 scales...it's weird, but I like it.

No official word on this today, but I will say that if something does happen you will see an update, but not an upgrade.
